Is Your Car Steering Hard?

46 sec read

The steering wheel looks pretty stiff as you turn it to drive down the street. Now you open the hood but can’t see the obvious problem. You can see that the power steering belt is still in place and that there is no leakage of the power steering fluid. Although the power steering fluid appears black, it is still full. The power steering belt looks worn and has passed the four-year replacement interval for power steering belts. You replace the belt. However, it happens again a few days later and only gets worse.

Reason To Get Your Steering Rack Replaced

The only reason is the usual wear and tear of the internal parts or “the rack” of the power steering. The black colour of the power steering fluid is caused by metal wear from the rack.

A nasty jolt from an open pothole can induce harm to your car’s steering system. These include shocks & Struts, tie rods and tie rod ends, bushings hubs & wheel bearings, rack &pinion, swaybars & links, and many other systems.

To get rid of this problem, you’ll need to replace your power steering rack. Check out this video on the steering rack replacement of a Maruti Suzuki WagonR and know the complete process with pricing.
