Honda Resumes Production, 2020 Honda City Confirmed for July!

Coronavirus outbreak in India has affected each and every industry in the world. The Indian automotive industry is one of the most affected industries in India. April 2020 saw zero sales while production lines were also affected due to the broken supply chain. Meanwhile, there were some pieces of good news too. Although many launches have been delayed or cancelled, 2020 Honda City will arrive in India on time. We said it will arrive on time because such a short delay shouldn’t be counted considering the situation. The actual good news is that Honda has resumed production in its Greater Noida plant! As the auto industry is reviving, the 2020 Honda City is expected to give Honda’s market a great push in terms of sales.

The new Honda City will be feature-packed for sure! The highlights include some features which will be the first-in-segment features. You must be aware that the 2020 Honda City will be the first car in India to have Alexa integration. Also, Honda’s LaneWatch camera will be available in the 5th generation city which you currently see on the Civic as well. This will also be a firs-in-segment feature as none of the competitors has it till now. Here are other features that you will get inside the 2020 City:

  • 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay
  • Honda Connect
  • 7-inch HD, full-colour MID
  • G-force Meter
  • Cruise control
  • Automatic climate control
  • Leather upholstery
  • Padded dashboard

Although Honda has not revealed the variant-wise feature list, we can expect most of them to be there in both the variants as the 2020 City will have 2 variants only. We can’t expect Honda to make the lower variant less viable.

2020 Honda City | Price

Although Honda has not given any idea about the price of the new City, we can expect it to be priced somewhat more than the current version of the sedan. The current version has a price of Rs 9.91-14.31 Lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The new model will definitely have a price difference but we can expect Honda to keep the price such that the City is able to compete with the already existing rivals.

It would be interesting to see how the new City takes on the rivals like the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz and the recently launched Skoda Rapid TSi along with the VW Vento which has got the same engine under the hood! Reports also suggest that Honda is planning to sell this generation parallel to the already existing generation. This would be another interesting thing to see how Honda is able to sell two different generations of the same car at the same time!
