2020 Hyundai Elantra Drops base variant, New Price starts @ ₹ 18.49 lakh

Recently Korean carmaker Hyundai had revealed the updated brochure of its 2020 Elantra full-size sedan. Previously the Hyundai Elantra was available in S, SX and SX(O) variants buy the updated brochure shows that the ‘S’ variant which was also the base variant has been discontinued.

Not only that the prices have also been revised pushing the entry price up by almost Rs 2.6 lakh. Previously the S variant was priced at Rs 15.89 lakh but now that the variant has been discontinued the starting price for the new base variant which is the SX starts at Rs. 18.49 lakh.

With the discontinuation, the S variant the 2020 Hyundai Elantra is no longer the most affordable executive sedan in the country, passing the mantle to the new Honda Civic. As of now the revised prices of the 2020 Hyundai Elantra starts at Rs 18.49 lakh and goes upto Rs 20.39 lakh (ex-showroom India)

However, the 2020 Hyundai Elantra still comes with a BS6 compliant 2.0-litre naturally-aspirated petrol unit and is yet to receive a Creta-sourced 1.5-litre diesel motor capable of producing 114hp with 250Nm of peak torque while paired to a 6-speed manual and an optional 6-speed automatic transmission.

Features

  • The features on the 2020 Hyundai Elantra include a sunroof, dual-zone climate control with rear AC vents, an 8″ touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The car also comes with the Hyundai’s connected car tech ‘BlueLink’, and wireless charger.
  • On the safety front, the car comes equipped with 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP, HAC (Hill-start control) and ACC (Auto Cruise Control).

Rivals

The new Hyundai still pitches the Honda CivicSkoda Octavia and might also rival the upcoming sedan from MG. It’s a small wait to see what the new diesel engine will fair in our tough markets as both Diesel as well as Diesel cars getting expensive.
