2020 Hyundai Tucson Facelift to Launch on July 14th

It was back in February when Hyundai showcased its next big thing the 2020 Hyundai Tucson facelift at the Auto Expo 2020. Moreover, the South-Korean carmaker also hinted to launch the new Tucson somewhere between March/April but after the nationwide lockdown due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the launch had to be postponed to a later date.

But now after almost 3 months later according to leading media sources, Hyundai could launch the new facelifted version of the Tucson SUV will be launched in India on July 14, 2020. So without wasting any more time let’s see what the new and updated version of the Tucson SUV holds for us.

Any major update on the Engine front?

Under its hood, the new Tucson will make use of its previous 2.0-litre diesel and petrol engines which have now been updated to comply with the more stringent BS6 emission norms. The diesel unit is capable of generating 183hp with 400Nm of peak torque whereas the petrol unit churns around 150hp with 200Nm of peak torque.

Both the engines come mated to a standard 6-speed manual with an optional automatic transmission. Interestingly, this time around the top-spec diesel variant will also have an optional all-wheel-drive system.

New updates on the Outside?

Coming to the most important things the designs element. The latest iteration of the Tucson SUV features a mildly updated Hyundai’s signature cascading grille, a new set of massive 18-inch alloy wheels, revised LED headlamps with LED DRLs, LED elements on the tail lamps, rain-sensing wipers and auto headlamps.

The new 2020 Tucson also features a revised rear profile featuring the tweaked licence plate housing and bumper.

New updates on the Inside?

On the inside, we will get to see an all-new floating touchscreen infotainment system similar to its cousin the Kia Seltos but in a smaller size. The new infotainment system gets Android Auto and Apple CarPlay along with Hyundai’s BlueLink connected car technology.

It also features keyless entry, push-button start, wireless phone charging pad, dual-zone automatic climate control, cruise control, powered front seats. Additionally, the Safety package will include six airbags, ABS with EBD, electric parking brake with auto-hold, hill start assist, and hill descent control.

Expected Price and Rivals?

Hyundai has not yet revealed any specific information about the pricing but after looking at the updated with can surely expect the new iteration come to be launched at a much higher amount.

The prices of the current model start at Rs 18.76 lakh and go upto Rs 26.97 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). When launched the all-new 2020 Hyundai Tucson facelift will rival the likes of the Jeep Compass, Skoda Karoq, VW T-ROC, Skoda Kodiaq and the upcoming 2021 Volkswagen Tiguan.
