Amidst the worst year of anyone’s life, Mahindra has revealed the all-new iteration of the iconic Thar. An offroader which has carried the legacy of Mahindra’s Jeep since 2010. Everyone was in dismay when Thar was discontinued earlier. And with the reveal, Mahindra has for sure made it clear, 2020 Thar was worth the wait! The All-New mStallion Engine
Mahindra showcased a new generation of engines at the Auto Expo 2020. The mStallion engines were much awaited. And with the reveal of Thar 2020, Mahindra has introduced the first car with the new era engines. The iconic offroader gets the all-new mStallion 150 TGDi engine. And that’s not all. It has also been equipped with the mHawk 130 diesel engine option. Let’s take a look at the specs of both the engines.

Automatic Transmission for the first time in Thar
Yes, you read that right! The all-new Mahindra Thar comes with an automatic transmission. It is a 6-speed torque converter automatic. This time with Thar, you can let your left foot take leave while the icon does the heavy lifting.
It’s 4WD! (Shift on Fly)
The all-new Thar has still got the essence of old-school. It gets the shift on fly 4X4 low range transfer case so that you can seamlessly switch into Four Wheel Drive(4WD).
The Iconic Silhouette in a New Avatar
The wide and bold front fascia along with the iconically sculpted lines all across the Thar make sure that the new avatar still bears the icon’s legacy. Although, many of the Thar lovers are a bit disappointed with the front grille, overall, Thar does look robust.

It’s not just the exterior, Mahindra Thar has been upgraded from the inside too. The full-black interiors do make sure that Thar is a statement in itself. The front seats with body-hugging contours make sure that you feel comfortable, even on the toughest roads. Driver seat has also got the height and lumbar support adjustments. The dashboard also keeps the retro feel alive while being equipped with the modern-day tech. The roof-mounted speakers make sure that you can groove to beat of your choice, even while wading through the water.
Unmatched Offroading Capabilities
Mahindra Thar is known to be a true offroader. And the 2020 iteration is no less. With an approach angle of 42-degrees and a departure angle of 37-degrees, Mahindra Thar can take on the offROAD less travelled! It also has a water wading ability of 650mm. And to keep you above the ground, be it any terrain, Mahindra Thar is equipped with all-terrain 255/65 R18 tyres, largest in the class.
The 2020 Mahindra Thar is SAFE!
With such performance at the offer, Mahindra had to make sure that the all-new Thar is safe. So it has got a load of features up its sleeves to make you feel safe. First in class features include ESP with roll-over mitigation, built-in roll cage and hill hold and descent control. It also gets rear parking sensors and dual airbags. 2020 Mahindra Thar is also equipped with ABS. It has been built like a vault and according to the company, the Thar meets the global standards of safety for both the occupants as well as the pedestrians.
Mahindra Thar is IP 54 Dust and Water Resistant!
Water wading capacity would have been a waste if the Thar was not resistant to it. Well, the all-new Thar has got a rating of IP54, which means it is completely protected against solid objects. And water splashing through any angle would not damage the Thar.

It is necessary to have some entertainment while driving. 2020 Mahindra Thar comes with a 17.8cm touchscreen infotainment system. The Thar also keeps you updated with all the parameters related to the car through the MID display in the instrument cluster. What’s more in the house? It also gets the BlueSense App so that you remain connected to your Thar. TPMS or the Tyre Pressure Monitoring System or Tyretronics (as Mahindra likes to call it!)makes sure you keep the track of tyre pressures.
