2021 Kia Carnival Interior Details Revealed

Back in February, Kia launched its second car in India; the Kia Carnival at the Auto Expo 2020. And it was an instant hit amongst prospective MPV buyers. The 2020 Kia Carnival launched in India is actually the third-generation of the MPV.

It was just a few weeks back when it was reported that Kia is working on the 2021 iteration of the Carnival MPV and had also released some images revealing the exterior of the MPV. Additionally, an undisguised test mule of the 2021 Kia Carnival was also spied testing on the roads of South-Korea.

And now, Kia has officially released the first pictures of its all-new fourth-gen Carnival MPV revealing its interior details which is nothing like the third-gen (current-gen in India) Carnival.

What are the new and updated features on the Inside?

On the inside, the 2021 Kia Carnival is BRAND NEW. It is totally different from the third-gen Kia Carnival that is currently sold in India. The new beige and tan brown aesthetics give the new Carnival MPV a more luxurious and premium look. (as if it wasn’t luxurious before)

Another star feature is a newly designed dashboard which hosts its most notable and dynamic feature; a massive 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system along with another 12.3-inch fully digital instrument cluster. Yes, 2 touch-screen interfaces!

Interestingly both the instrument cluster and the infotainment unit had been integrated into a single piece of glass and making it look like a single unit.

The new infotainment-cum-instrument cluster sits on a chrome-plated line which spans the width of the dashboard with neatly tucked AC vents going with it.

Other notable feature on the Inside includes a new multi-functional three-spoke steering wheel. The dashboard is kept clean with most of the controls integrated into the touch screen. However, you can still find a few touch-sensitive capacitive buttons on the centre console. The traditional gear lever has been replaced by a touch-sensitive dial which is the new “shift-by-wire” automatic transmission directly taken from the Genesis G80 luxury sedan. The 2021 Carnival will still feature the dual-sunroof setup, powered sliding rear doors and multi-zone climate control same as the current Carnival.

The 2021 Kia Carnival will be offered with a seven, nine and eleven seating configurations. The Images revealed here feature the 7-seater model, which gets reclining captain seats with powered leg rest for the second-row passengers. Additionally, the second-row seats also get individual 10-inch entertainment display, storage draws and individual USB ports.

Are there any major changes on the engine front too?

Unfortunately, Kia has still not shared any information about the engine specifications but we can surely expect the new age Carnival will be offered with 2 engine options a 3.3L GDi V6 Petrol and a 2.2L Turbocharged Diesel which have been seen on the current model as well. But this time they will be tuned in a different state in the 2021 Carnival.

When will the 2021 Carnival launch in India?

Not as of now. Given that Kia has just launched the (globally) third-gen Carnival in India. The 2021 Kia is not expected to show up on Indian shores anytime soon. Maybe in 2022?
