It’s the Koreans who have taken over the Indian automobile sector by storm with only a single car that has been ruling the compact SUV segment for almost a year. Yes! we are talking about the infamous Hyundai Creta.
The Hyundai Creta has been a major seller and has helped the brand mark its presence in the Indian market. The Hyundai Creta was first introduced in 2015 with a facelift in 2018 and a new generation in 2020.
The overwhelming response has already led the brand on working on a new version of the compact SUV. Much recently a few fully camouflaged mules of the 2022 Hyundai Creta were spied confirming that the Korean carmaker was planning on introducing the next-gen variant soon.
What’s new on the 2022 Hyundai Creta?
- Looking at the rear profile, the next-gen iteration of the Creta will see some radical updates compared to the current-gen model.
- It also seems that the 2022 Creta will take cues from the Hyundai Tucson in terms of styling and will get the same jewel pattern grille with integrated DRLs and vertically aligned C-shaped LED projector headlamps.
Any new update on the mechanical front?
- It is highly likely that the new age Creta will feature the same 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol motor and 1.5-litre CRDi diesel unit.
- Both engines produce 114 bhp and 144 Nm of peak torque while the latter generates 114 bhp and 250 Nm of torque.
- Both come paired to a 6-speed manual, CVT and an optional 6-speed torque converter.
India Launch?
- It is believed that the next-gen Hyundai Creta will make its debut by the Q3 of 2022 in India.
- However, this period could differ due to the Covid-19 pandemic as the new delta variant has started to spread rapidly.
- With its launch, the new Creta will rival against the likes of the Kia Seltos, Mahindra XUV500, Tata Harrier and the MG Hector.
