Design
The Tucson now looks extremely sharp. There are cuts and creases all over the body and Hyundai does not shy away from showcasing them. The headlights have been revamped and the DRLs now merge onto the grille. They also double up as indicators. The all-LED setup for the headlights is housed separately below the DRLs. The taillights are split into two sharp units and the ends are connected by a LED strip that runs through the tailgate. The 2022 Hyundai Tucson also gets a new design for the alloy wheels, which is a pleasant upgrade from the previous gen SUV.

The dual-tone black and white interior might remind you of the Creta, but it is much more premium. There are soft touches all around the cabin and the quality of materials just feels premium. The new kit includes a flat-bottom steering, an infotainment screen, AC controls that have now been changed to touch-based buttons, and an all-digital driver’s display. Minor changes like the fresh gear knob, redesigned center console, and new buttons all around make the car feel like a good step up from the old Tucson.

Engines on the 2022 Hyundai Tucson
The engine options remain the same for this one as well, and that’s not much of a complaint. It gets a 2L Petrol engine that makes 156HP and 192nm, this is mated to a 6-speed automatic. The gem here is the 2L diesel that makes 186HP and 416nm! These are the best numbers in the segment! The diesel is mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox. Just as before, the diesel engine can be paired with a sophisticated 4WD that will help you sail over all kinds of terrains.

Competition and Pricing
A 5% – 8% jump in the pricing from the older Tucson will not be a surprise. The 2022 Hyundai Tucson will primarily compete with the Jeep Compass, VW Tiguan, Skoda Kodiaq, and the Citroen C5 Aircross. Amongst these, the Tucson is the most powerful and the most feature-loaded car, and it definitely is capable of crushing the segment.
