2022 Skoda Slavia (Rapid-Replacement) | Here’s Your First Look

The Rapid’s India journey ends with Skoda confirming that their ageing midsize car has been taken out of production. Skoda India Brand Director replied to an individual asking about the possible upgrade for the car in 2022 on his Twitter handle. He now has also revealed the renderings for the upcoming sedan. For the captions, he has written- “The first glimpse of the ŠKODA SLAVIA is here! The sketches feature the front, coupé-style silhouette and ŠKODA wordmark on the rear of our upcoming premium midsize sedan.” 

The Skoda Slavia will be unveiled on the 18th of November, is scheduled to be available for sale in 2022. Although the company has been cautious from disclosing too much information, it has declared that the Slavia is built on the same MQB A0-IN base as Skoda Kushaq. It can be described as a sleek, well-built, safe and powerful saloon car’ which will follow the same path as the larger and more powerful and extravagant Octavia and the Skoda Superb sedans. With the Slavia, Skoda will focus on both the driving experience and the comfort of rear seats, and seating for rear passengers is one of the most critical priorities for the company.

Expect an interior similar to the Kushaq featuring several features like the 10-inch touchscreen with a touch-sensitive climate control panel and control switches that will be inherited from the midsize crossover SUV. However, Skoda is expected to add additional features that are suitable for Slavia. Six airbags will be included in the highest-spec versions and the Slavia.

Similar to the Kushaq, Skoda Slavia will also offer two turbo-petrol engines – the 1.0-litre three-cylinder TSI, which generates 110 hp with 175 Nm torque and the 1.5-litre four-cylinder TSI, which produces 150 hp and 250 NM of torque. A manual with six speeds are available for both engines. The 1.0 TSI will have the option of a 6-speed torque converter that is automatic, and the 1.5 TSI will come with an automatic torque converter. 1.5 TSI – aimed at those who love driving will come with seven-speed DSG transmission (with paddle shifters).
