One of India’s largest carmakers Mahindra & Mahindra is all set to launch its first vehicle of the year, or we should say an iteration of one of the brand’s sole off-roading models. The Mahindra Thar.
The Mahindra Thar will debut again, but this time without the 4×4 option. Yes, Mahindra has decided to re-launch the entry-level variant of the Thar in India. Although, when Mahindra first launched the Thar, it did come with an entry-level variant.
It was later discontinued due to fewer sales numbers. However, the reason Mahindra brings back the entry-level Thar remains unknown. That being said, some crucial information has been leaked, revealing some shocking information. So Let’s have a look!
- The entry-level Thar will be limited to only 2 trims
- We will also get to see 2 new colour options- Blazing Bronze & Everest White
- This entry-level Thar will sport a 2.0-litre mStallion turbo-petrol and a 1.5L Diesel engine.
- These powertrains put out 150bhp with a peak torque 320Nm and 117bhp, and 300Nm of torque, respectively.
- Transmission options on the newly updated Thar include a 6-speed manual gearbox with an optional automatic torque converter.
- Coming to features, We expect it to remain the same as the current gen, which includes- 18-inch wheels, a touchscreen infotainment system, roof-mounted speakers, electric ORVMs, cruise control, fog lamps etc.
- The launch is speculated just after the upcoming Auto Expo scheduled between 13th-18th January 2023. It will continue to lock horns with its sole rival, The Force Gurkha.
