360-Degree Camera- How It Works And Is It Useful? Explained!

Modern cars are all about features. With Indian cities crowding up more and more every day, people prefer features, comfort and convenience over a high-performance engine. A 360-degree camera is one of these high-tech, convenience-driven features. It has been making its way to more affordable cars in recent days. Today, let’s talk more about this 360-degree camera!

  1. What is a 360-Degree Camera?

A 360-degree camera enables the driver to keep an eye on everything outside the car via the infotainment screen. There are multiple angles that this camera covers such- as the front, rear left, and right sides. This set-up helps the driver manoeuvre in tight spots, heavy traffic, and while parking. These cameras can also fetch you a top-down view of your car. The cameras take continuous pictures of what’s around and create an animated, top-view version of it.

  1. How does it work?

This involves a setup of cameras and sensors all around the car that work together and help manoeuvre the car. This includes one camera at the front, one at the rear, and one each under the ORVMs.  The cameras help you get a visual sense of the objects around and the sensors help you get an accurate measure of distance.

Yes, a 360-degree camera is by far one of the most useful features one can have on a car, especially bigger Sedans and SUVs. This feature really helps where we’re stuck in tough parking spots and in tight traffic conditions. It is also useful for smaller cars that have thick pillars all around. This is surely a useful feature for new drivers as well!
