8 Electric Cars to check out at the Auto Expo 2020

Electricity is the future. Whether you like it or not this is what the peak of fuel in cars will look like (until teleportation of course). While we are still in 2019 and better modes of transport than cars are just science fiction let’s have a look at what 2020 Auto Expo holds for the Electric car market.

Report: Electric Car Sales Report 2019 | Let’s See Who Won?

The order of the list is completely random and is not a ranking of cars based on my preference.

  1. MG ZS EV

Indian audience is still drooling over the Hector and MG is back in the market to satisfy the people who needed an EV alternative. The car will put on stage during the Auto Expo and is expected to have a 44.5kWh battery which can give you a range of over 400 kms without a recharge. Also capable of fast charging it can be charged up to 80% in 40 minutes. The MG ZS EV will be powered with a 150PS electric motor. A front-mounted engine system can reach top speeds up to 140 kmph and has an acceleration of 0-100 in 8.5 seconds.

  2. Mahindra XUV 300 EV

Mahindra and Mahindra will be launching an EV variant of the subcompact XUV 300 which will be showcased at the Auto Expo 2020. It is expected to have two battery pack variants with a range of 300 and 400 KM each. Powered by an electric motor of 130 bhp. The expected launch is to be on 2021 and as is now a norm will feature a fast-charging DC option. With this power, it is most probably going to be faster than its conventional fuel alternative. XUV 300 will be something that people might want to pick up.

  3. Kia Soul EV

    Kia Soul EV

KIA after having really good success in the Indian industry is expected to launch its successful Kia Soul electric compact vehicle at the 2020 Auto Expo. It is powered with a 204bhp engine outputting 395 Nm of torque. Having a 54 KWh battery Kia soul EV will go smoothly till 452 km without needing a recharge. With an acceleration of 7.9 seconds to reach 100 kmph from stationary, it’s going to be a fast car. Its showcase in auto expo electric section will probably be filled with people who want to see this beast.

  4. Mahindra eKUV100

    Mahindra eKUV100

Another of Mahindra and Mahindra’s old reliable is coming in an electric option. The Mahindra eKUV100 will fashion the same engine as of eVerito and will have a power of 42PS and a torque of 91 Nm and is expected to have a different drive train to have a longer range. After its two hatchbacks being removed from the shelf e2o and e20+ due to not being able to comply with safety norms, they have hopes of eKUV100 to give them a foot in the closing door of the EV market.

  5. Tata Altroz EV

Another not definite but possible showcase is the new Tata Altroz EV. It was already showcased at the 2019 Geneva Motor show, the Altroz EV is expected to have the same as its International alternative with a battery range of 300 kms with a 30kWh. Design features include a big infotainment system, LED headlamps. Tata Altroz is also expected to have a bust and waterproof battery system. After its BS6-compliant petrol, it seems like they are going for an overall cleaner drive.

  6. Maruti Suzuki WagonR EV

    Maruti Suzuki WagonR EV

As expected, Maruti is also trying its hand in the EV sector and is going to showcase WagonR electric variant. With an output of 50KW. Output and Torque are not defined yet as the specifications are all but rumours. Knowing Wagon R EV it won’t be powerful probably focusing more on the range than strength. The car is expected to be around 10 lakhs and in my opinion, is a bit much for something like Wagon R which looks like a close reskin of its other model.

  7. Renault Kwid EV

    Renault Kwid EV

Most probably a rival of WagonR EV Kwid is supposed to have 26.8KWh lithium-ion battery and a range of 271 Km with power figures reaching 43.3hp/125 Nm. Another EV with fast charging it won’t take more than 4 hours to charge its battery. Already released in China the converted currency puts it around 6.3 Lakhs however Renault Kwid EV is not expected to be that cheap and at max will be close to 10 Lakhs. All of those will probably be covered in electric car show of auto expo 2020 known as green day

  8. Tata Nexon EV

The Nexon EV is also expected to be showcased on auto expo 2020. The normal model which was hailed as the safest Indian made car is expected to uphold the same standard for its alternative. Dubbed The Ultimate Electric Drive after a publicity showcase taking the car from Manali to Leh Tata Nexon EV is supposed to have an IP67 rated Lithium-ion battery and is expected to 15 to 17 lakhs.

Exclusive: MG ZS EV vs Tata Nexon EV vs Hyundai Kona | Head2Head

The future looks bright for the electric automobile industry and the electric cars are shown in the auto expo is way more than before this subsidiary needs a lot of research and more preparation before it is as convenient as conventional fuel it is still the future and will possibly a high point in the fuel industry.
