The New Toyota Innova showcased in the show is based on the Innova Crysta that is sold in India. Meaning, that it takes all the major cues from the current-gen car, including the basic body structure and contours, with minor tweaks.

  • For instance, this electric MPV gets a similar headlight design but with blue inserts. Blue, of course, signifies EV.

  • Innova EV also gets a closed panel instead of a grille sandwiched between the headlights. This is to increase the aerodynamic efficiency, hence the range.

  • At the rear, there aren’t many changes apart from the clear tail light that do make the vehicle stand out from the existing Innova Crysta in India.
  • Moving to the side, the Innova EV gets different alloy wheels. Well, it would have been better if the company gave the Innova EV some aero specific wheel covers. Nevertheless, Toyota might include them in the production version.

Is it the same on the inside?

What powered the new Toyota Innova EV?

As of now, the powertrain still remains unknown to the world. Moreover, there aren’t any electric vehicles from the carmaker except Toyota Mirai, which essentially is a fuel-cell electric vehicle. Although as per some reports, the company claims to sell 3.5 million electric vehicles globally by 2030. Hence, it is expected that Toyota might launch multiple electric vehicles in the upcoming years, including Innova EV.

Will Toyota Innova EV come to India?

Toyota pampered the Innova with multiple facelifts and a generation change in its lifespan. This signifies that the company still is interested in continuing Innova’s operation here in India. As of now, Innova in India comes with a set of two engines, diesel and petrol. The addition of an electric powertrain will give the vehicle a greener approach. Now, this with the electric motor could also make it to the Indian market. Now, as Innova is the best weapon for long rides, we expect the carmaker to give a high range battery to the Innova EV.

What will be the price of the Toyota Innova EV?

Similar to the powertrain department, Toyota has not yet disclosed the price of the Innova EV anywhere. But if we had to guess, electric vehicles are about 30% more expensive than their conventional counterpart with an internal combustion engines. And the top-end automatic trim of the Innova in India costs, Rs. 23.82 Lakh (ex-showroom). This translates that here in India, Toyota Innova EV might cost about Rs. 31 Lakh (ex-showroom). Remember, the ex-showroom prices do not include the subsidy if any.
