Auto Expo 2020 | Here are the Highlights from Day 3

Day 3 of the Auto Expo 2020 had much lesser launches and unveilings. So presumably the day was the least exciting of all, especially with people getting ready for the Delhi elections. But the day still exciting with MG giving everyone a bolt out of the blue with the surprise launch of the G10 MPV. Read on to get a quick glimpse of the top 5 highlights of the day. 

  1. Maruti Suzuki Ignis Facelift

    Touted as one of the bigger reveals of the 3rd day of the Auto Expo 2020 is the Maruti Suzuki new Ignis facelift. Exterior changes are mild and limited to the front end. The Ignis gets new front bumpers and grill. Onto the interior, one can spot a change in the upholstery and an update in the infotainment system.

    A 1.2 l BS6 compliant petrol engine powers the Ignis. It still produces the same measly 81 hp and can deliver a peak torque of 113 Nm. The comes in two options: a 5-speed manual or 5-speed AMT.

  2. Maruti Suzuki S-Cross Petrol

    Maruti also unwrapped the S-Cross with a petrol engine. Ever since the car was released in 2015, it’s been running on diesel. But time has come for carmakers to stop trying to kill the planet. So Maruti decided its plans for the future in the BS6 era will consist of petrol-only variants.

    The new S-Cross features the same 1.5l petrol used in the Vitara Brezza. The engine can churn out a maximum power of 103 hp and deliver a peak torque of 138 Nm.

  3. Mahindra XUV300 Sportz

    Mahindra is turning out to be one of the more promising and exciting of the Indian car manufacturers. They showcased the new m-Stallion engine, electric car and electric concepts and the latest addition is the Sportz variant of XUV300. That’s good progress considering they were known for making tractors not too many years ago.

    The new XUV300 Sportz gets the all-new 1.2l TGDi turbo petrol. It can produce 130 hp of power and a peak torque of 230 Nm of torque. The cosmetic updates are minor adjustments to give it a more sporty look.

  4. MG Gloster

    After the successful previous two launches, the MG is back with another SUV the Gloster. It’s their first full-size body-on-frame. It is based on the Maxus D-90 available in China.

    The Gloster gets a 2.0l diesel that can produce 213 hp and a peak torque of 480 Nm. It will launch in the second part of 2020. The price will start from 27 lakhs (ex-showroom).

  5. MG G10

    The biggest surprise of the day was the unveiling of G10. The MG stand was supposed to close after the introduction of Gloster. But MG had a surprise in store for all of us with the shock debut of G10.

    MG expects the G10 to rival the Kia Carnival. With 2.0l petrol and 1.9l diesel. The MPV offers both 7/9 seater versions internationally.
