Maruti Suzuki Baleno CNG and XL6 CNG Launched at 8.28 Lakhs and 12.24 Lakhs!

Maruti Suzuki has just dropped another update in the Indian automotive market in the form of Baleno CNG and XL6 CNG. These are the first two vehicles in the NEXA lineup to be powered by CNG! With this, Baleno also becomes the first premium hatchback in the country to be powered by factory-fitted CNG. Here is everything you need to know about the Baleno CNG and the XL6 CNG.

Maruti Baleno CNG

2022 Maruti Baleno

Look-wise, there is no difference at all. The new Baleno CNG continues to be powered by the same 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. This time, the power output has dropped, for sure. The power outputs are 77.5hp and 98.5Nm as opposed to the 90hp and 113Nm of torque in the petrol version. Considering Baleno is a hatchback, the 55-litre CNG tank makes you compromise the boot space ofcourse. But while you lose on the boot space, you will win with the mileage!

The Baleno CNG comes with a company-claimed mileage of a whopping 30.61km/kg! Well, the launch of Glaza CNG is also around the corner. This goes without saying as Baleno and Glanza have always been hand in hand. Baleno CNG is offered in Delta and Zeta trims which are mid-level trims. On the contrary, Glanza is expected to offer CNG in the top-end variant too! The price difference between the petrol and CNG cars for both variants is INR95,000.

Trim Petrol Variant Price CNG Variant Price Price Difference
Delta Rs. 8.28Lakhs Rs. 7.33Lakhs Rs.95,000
Zeta Rs. 9.21Lakhs Rs. 8.26Lakhs Rs.95,000

Another great news for the Indian automotive industry has been dropped by the Maruti Suzuki CNG car lineup update. The XL6 now comes with a 60-litre factory-fitted CNG tank and this one is available only with the base trim, Zeta. Just like the Baleno, this one is also Rs.95,000 more expensive than the petrol counterpart. Talking about the power output, the XL6 CNG continues to be powered by the same 1.5-litre K15C engine which now generates 88bhp. The petrol avatar pulled out a 100bhp. The claimed mileage figure for the XL6 CNG is 26.32km/kg.

Maruti Suzuki CNG cars have always been a revolution in the market. With this step, Maruti has initiated to make a revolution in these segments too. Baleno continues to rival the Tata Altroz, Hyundai i20 and Honda Jazz. On the other hand, the XL6 will continue to rival the Kia Carens CNG. It will be interesting to see how competitors react to this breakthrough in the industry!
