9 Best 150-160cc Motorcycles in India | From MT15 to X-Blade

We came up with bikes under 2 Lakhs. We gave you a list of bikes under ₹70,000. Now it’s time we come up with a list of bikes with the 150-160cc engine at their heart. It’s the cheap thrills edition of entry-level bikes in India. So without wasting any more words, let’s get started!

    Talking about sports and not starting the list with a bike from Yamaha would have been a shame. The pure race bred naked motorcycle packs a 155cc engine under the frame. The high power to weight ratio makes this bike a thrill to drive and enough to rush adrenaline through the body of the rider. The engine is mated to a 6-speed constant mesh transmission. This entry-level sports bike comes with single-channel ABS and disc brakes at both the ends. It is offered in three colours schemes: Metallic Black, Dark Matt Blue and Ice Fluo-Vermillion. The asking price of this bike starts at ₹1,39,900.

It is in the 3rd generation of its being and R15 is still one of the most sought after bikes in the segment. The R15 carries forward the R Racing DNA with its 155cc engine under the skin. This mill produces a power of 18.6ps @10,000rpm and a peak torque of 14.1Nm @8,500rpm. It is also mated to a 6-speed transmission like the MT15. The ones who have witnessed the bike know-how enthralling it is to drive. You will have to spend ₹1,49,000 for harnessing the ‘R’ racing legacy.

    India’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer in terms of sales. There was a time when it was considered that the future of Hero is bleak after the JV of Hero and Honda broke. And yet, the Hero Motocorp is one of the most sought after company in India. The engine bolted to the frame is a 163cc unit producing 15hp of power @8,500rpm and a peak torque of 14Nm @6,500rpm. It is one of the most powerful engines in the segment. And the best part is the asking price. The dual-disc brake model costs only ₹1,03,500. Hero Motocorp has given a 5-speed MT with the engine while a 6-speed would have been better.

  4. Honda Unicorn

    Coming from the house of one of the most reliable two-wheeler manufacturers in India, Unicorn has been a part of Honda’s legacy in India for a long time. Powering the Unicorn is a 162.7cc engine which is capable of churning out 12.8ps @7,500rpm and a peak torque of 14Nm @5,500rpm. This bike is more suited for commuting. The engine is mated to a 5-speed constant mesh gearbox. It gets a disc brake at the front end while a drum brake at the rear end. You will have to spend ₹94,548 on this bike.

  5. Honda XBlade

    Another one from the reliable Japanese brand, XBlade is the sportier 160cc bike from the automaker. The bike comes with a 162.7cc engine which churns out 13.8ps of power @8,000rpm while the maximum torque is 14.7Nm @5,500rpm. There is a variant with disc brakes at both the ends. The engine is mated to a 5-speed transmission. The dual disc model costs ₹1,10,968.

  6. Bajaj Pulsar 160NS

    Talking about 160cc bikes and not recalling the one from the brand that actually started the cheap thrills in India! Bajaj Pulsar came back in 2001, with a 150cc engine. And now Bajaj offers a plethora of options, one being the 160cc in the NS or the Naked Street edition. The most powerful engine in the segment churns 17.2ps of power @9,000rpm and a peak torque of 14.6Nm @7,250rpm. Being powerful, the bike has to have enough braking capacity to stop on demand. The disc brakes at both the ends keep it in check. The starting price for Bajaj Pulsar 160NS is ₹1,07,091.

Avenger Street 160 comes loaded with a 160cc engine which is capable of producing 15ps of power @8,500rpm while churning out a peak torque of 13.7Nm @7,000rpm. It is a comfortable commuter with optimum ride height and dynamics. The 160 Street model costs ₹99,597.

TVS Racing, which has been in dominance from the past 38 years launched a bike that is still unmatched in terms of performance. TVS Apache, a bike crafted to overcome and overperform has completed 14 years of dominion in the segment. And the 160 4V is one of the many offerings under the Apache moniker. The 159.7cc engine is capable of producing 16.02ps @8,250rpm while producing 14.12Nm @7,250rpm. The Apache RTR 160 4V comes at a price of ₹1,07,050 for petal disc brakes at both the ends.

  9. Suzuki Gixxer
