It’s always exciting to look back on the car sales of the previous month, provided the sales numbers are good. But at times, these sales numbers don’t reflect what the automobile industry wished for. November 2021 is a perfect example of this situation. Well, because of the slow market, car sales are overwhelmingly low compared to the digits of November 2020. Accelerating the things further south is the chip shortage situation.
Nevertheless, amidst these difficulties, the segment that came on top in car sales is a hatchback. So, today we look at the top 10 best selling hatchbacks for November 2021.
Maruti Suzuki WagonR – 16,853 Units
Topping not the hatchback sales but the car sales overall, we have the Maruti Suzuki WagonR. Because Maruti WagonR has been a part of the Indian automotive market, it is among the best and no-nonsense vehicles in its price range.

Also, WagonR is the only vehicle in this list that showed positive growth in car sales compared with November 2020 (16,256). In November 2021, Maruti Managed to sell 16,853 Units in India.
Maruti Suzuki Swift – 14,568 Units
Moving on to the next vehicle, which is also part of the Maruti Suzuki’s portfolio in India, this is Swift. First launched in 2005, Maruti Suzuki Swift has been doing wonders for the company. Over these years, Swift has gone through several facelifts and a couple of generation changes.
Sadly, Swift recorded a dip of about 21% in car sales when comparing November of 2021 and 202. Still, Maruti Swift looks promising and is still going strong. Last month Maruti Suzuki sold 14,568 units versus 18,498 last year.
Maruti Suzuki Alto – 13,821 Units
Okay, in the third spot, we have another vehicle from the house of Maruti Suzuki, it is the Alto. Like the two cars mentioned above, Maruti Suzuki Alto is also among those vehicles that have participated in developing the Indian automotive industry.

Still, Maruti Suzuki Alto is the go-to hatchback if you have a strict budget. This is evident at Alto stands in the third position. In November 2021, Maruti sold about 13,812 Altos’ in India. But last year, in the same month, Maruti Suzuki sold 15,321 units.
Maruti Suzuki Baleno – 9,931 Units
It is a no brainer that the next car on this is list is another Maruti Suzuki. In the fourth position, we have the Maruti Suzuki Baleno. Among the cars from Maruti, Baleno is fun to drive and feature-packed. Being a part of the Nexa lineup only adds up to the positive quotient of the vehicle.
Nevertheless, it’s been a long that Baleno has not been updated. Speaking of which, we expect a new-gen Maruti Suzuki Baleno in the upcoming months. That was necessary as November 2021 was not got good for Baleno. Last month only 9,931 units of Baleno were sold. In 2020, 17,872 Balenos were sold.
Maruti Suzuki Celerio – 5,963 Units
On the fifth position and the last car to end the Maruti Suzuki streak, we have the Maruti Suzuki Celerio with 5,963 units sold in November 2021. At first, after the launch of the first Maruti Suzuki Celerio, this hatch didn’t get the expected response.

But now, giving it a second shot, Maruti Suzuki recently gave the Celerio a thorough update. Still, it’s a little early to comment on the response but we expect the new Celerio to get better than the before reaction. Celerio witnessed a dip of about 8.6% as last year 6,533 units of Celerios were sold.
Hyundai Grandi10 – 5,466 Units
Moving on to the hatchback from the second best selling carmaker in India, the Hyundai Grand i10. Hyundai i10 is among the vehicle for the company that favoured growth. But still, i10 too could resist the dip in sales from November 2020.
Last month, Hyundai sold about 5,486 units of Grand i10s in India. Sadly, on this list, Grand i10 has seen the maximum downfall in sales of about 60%. In November 2020 Hyundai managed to sell a whopping 14,003 units of Grand i10.
Tata Tiago – 4,998 Units
The first car on the best selling hatchbacks from an Indian carmaker is the Tata Tiago. Also, Tiago happens to be the entry-level hatch in Tata’s line-up. Despite entry-level, Tiago is feature-packed and adequately powerful.
That said, talking in favour of Tiago, is that it is *THE* safest vehicle in its segment with 4-star Global NCAP crash test rating. Speaking of car sales, 4,998 units of Tata Tiago were sold in November 2021. Also, these figures are 15% lower than November 2020.
Hyundai i20 – 4,391 Units
let’s move back to the vehicle from the oldest Korean carmaker in India, the Hyundai i20. Last year Hyundai i20 witnessed a thorough update. This is where the i20 became meaner, even more feature-packed, powerful and exciting. This might be the possible reason for making it into the best selling hatchbacks.

Nevertheless, 4,391 units of i20 and i20 N-line combined were sold last month. This means i20 suffered from a 51.7% decline in sales from last year where Hyundai sold 9,096 units of i20s.
Maruti Suzuki S-Presso – 3,861 Units
We’ve switched back to Maruti Suzuki. In the ninth position, we have the Maruti S-Presso. The vehicle that gets a commanding driving position and has adequate features, Maruti Suzuki S-Presso managed to achieve sales numbers of 3,861 units. Heh! These are 44.95 lower than that of November 2020 where Maruti sold 7,081 units of S-Presso.
Tata Altroz – 3,025 Units
Ending the list of the top ten, we have the Tata Altroz with a dip in sales of about 51.6%. Where Tata sold 6,260 units of Altroz in November 2020, last month Tata sold only 3,025 units. That’s a steep decline in sales numbers and definitely, a thing to worry about considering it is the safest and among the most powerful (Altros i-Turbo) in its segment.
So, here were the top 10 best selling hatchbacks in November 2021. Well, it’s interesting to see how Maruti Suzuki will stand in December 2021 as last month six out of ten cars on the list were from this brand.
