The year 2020 has faced many ups and downs, mainly downs though. With that, this year also marks the beginning of the new era of vehicles here in India, including two-wheelers. This is the year that gave birth to the new BS6 emission norms.
Well, to comply with those emission norms, every vehicle manufacturer has put everything into their R&D. Now, it’s approx. 5 months since BS6 came into play and BMW Motorrad has finally launched their made in India motorcycles G310 R and G310 GS for the domestic market.
Back in 2018 BMW Motorrad came up with two new motorcycles built in India, especially for India. That said, for the time when it was launched, it offers the perfect balance of power, aesthetics and built. But now the package is even more mouth-watering. So, what’s new with the 2020 BMW twins and are they different?
What do the BMW twins have on offer?
In simple terms YES! the new motorcycles are different from the previous offering. But what is the change?

For starters, the new BS6 BMW G310 R and BMW G310 GS get a new engine or at least sort of a new engine that is now BS6 compliant. Unlike other engines, those lost power in order to be BS6 compliant, thankfully this engine is deprived of that. The new motor shares the exact same power and torque figures.
The BMWs 313cc BS6 motor generates identical 34hp of max power and 28Nm of peak torque. As before the engine comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox, providing the right ratios for the motorcycle to what it does the best.
BMW G310 R and G310GS Features
It’s not just about the new engine. The new BS6 BMW twins get a whole lot of features that keeps the rider safe and indulged in riding. This is what the new motorcycles come with.

The all-new LED headlamps to ensure that the rider does not face visibility issues riding in the dark.

- Adjustable Brake and Clutch Lever
- Slipper Clutch
The new BS6 BMW G310 R and G310 GS also get a slipper clutch. Well, this allows the rider to downshift without any hassle or fuss. Besides, a slipper clutch also assists the rider when braking hard and prevents the rear wheel from hopping.

The new range of colours to choose from that does stand out in the crowd.

That offers precise control on the throttle.
What will the BMW twins cost?
After the launch of the new BS6 BMW G310 R and BMW G310 GS, the motorcycle manufacturer showcased the price that we had not anticipated, not even in our dreams. For one, both the motorcycles are cheaper than their BS4 counterparts.
A motorcycle form such a renowned motorcycle manufacturer at this price is something no saw it coming. The G310 R is priced at ₹2.45Lakhs and its rugged cousin will cost you around ₹2.85Lakhs (Ex-Showroom).
Are there any Extras?
It is interesting to see that the BMW Motorrad at this price not only offers reliable motorcycles but some additionals. This includes:
- A 3-year unlimited kilometre warranty
- Interesting all-inclusive monthly instalments starting at ₹4,500 for the G310 R and ₹5,500 for the G310 GS.
- Additionally, the manufacturer also has new exclusive accessories for the twins.
