6 Indian Car brands and Their Manufacturing Facilities | Know this!

We all have a great love for cars and their makers, but we might be unaware of the making process. Every car brand has its manufacturing plants spread across the country, working their respective shifts to produce cars. The Indian automobile industry accounts for more than 22% of the country’s GDP; let’s look at the car brands and their manufacturing plants across India:

  1. Mahindra & Mahindra

    Mahindra is among the most popular SUV brands in India. Their products, such as XUV700, Scorpio N & Thar, have taken the market by storm. Although the waiting periods are extensive, people are still going for their SUVs.

    They have multiple plants across the country, but the ones manufacturing their passenger vehicles are located in Haridwar, Nashik, Chakan, and Bengaluru. The engines are made in Igatpuri, Nashik and MHEL Chakan.

  2. Tata Motors

    The second car brand on our list is Tata, mainly known for its safety and growing share in the electric vehicle market. Tata also has multiple manufacturing plants making both passenger & commercial vehicles.

    Tata has a diverse lineup with hatchbacks, sedans & SUVs in both IC engine & electric powertrains. Their current best-selling product is Nexon in both markets; Tata has passenger vehicle manufacturing plants in Pimpri-Chinchwad, Pune & Sanand, Gujarat.

  3. Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.

    Maruti Suzuki owns the most significant share in the Indian passenger vehicle market with their affordable & fuel-efficient cars. Now with their latest launch Grand Vitara, they are set to capture more.

    They have three manufacturing plants in India. The first two are based in Haryana; Gurugram & Manesar. At the same time, the other one is in Gujarat, wholly owned by Suzuki and supplies the entire production.

  4. Volkswagen Group

    Volkswagen Group has also witnessed some growth recently as its products such as Taigun, Kushaq & Slavia & Virtus have performed well in the market. Although the Polo is still missed and wanted back.

    We all are fascinated by german engineering and technology, and all VW cars running in India are made there. They have two manufacturing plants in India. Both these plants are in Maharashtra, respectively Aurangabad & Chakan.

  5. Hyundai Motors India Ltd.

    Hyundai is also among India’s top-selling brands, holding second place in the passenger vehicle market. Their recent launches include Venue N-Line, while they are also developing the updated Verna.

    They have two plants in India, both in Tamil Nadu. The plants are located in Irungattukottai and Sriperumbudur, with a combined capacity of producing 7.65 lakhs annually.

  6. Kia Motors

    Kia is relatively new in the Indian market but has acquired a significant share. Their strategy has turned out well, and their recent launches include the Seltos facelift & Kia EV6.

    Kia has a single manufacturing facility located in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh. The plant is spread across 536 acres with a manufacturing capacity of 3 lakh units in a year.
