5 New Car Launches That Are Delayed Due To CoronaVirus

The Coronavirus pandemic that has swept the entire world and gives no sign to falter as been negatively affecting every possible sector of an economy. The Automobile sector which was already going through a slump last year is now in even more trouble as the virus has caused a complete lockdown of the country. Below are some new much-awaited cars that couldn’t launch due to Coronavirus.

  1. Hyundai Tucson

    With a new engine complying with BS6 emission norms and a facelift to be more lucrative, Hyundai Tucson was expecting a launch this month. The launch has now been pushed ahead due to uncertainty about how this pandemic will play out. The car was getting a full LED headlamps, redesigned grille and a 2.0L BS6 engine with six-speed automatic transmission.

  2. Skoda Rapid

    Although there were not a lot of changes for the car, Skoda Rapid was getting a new 1.0L TSI petrol engine and was stated to launch on April 14th. Due to the current lockdown, the launch date is expected to move further ahead into the month or even to mid or end of the year.

  3. Hyundai Verna

    Stated for a march 26th launch, Hyundai Verna will now be launched in April preferably at the end of it. Verna got a lot of new features including and not limited to, 3 BS6 compliant engines, a new front and back end and new LED headlights.

  4. Honda City

    Fifth-generation was about to be unveiled in March and an expected launch in April which as all gone awry due to the virus. The launch is now delayed by a few months. The new Honda City is getting both of its engines back with BS6 compliance to boot.

  5. Tata HBX

    Tata’s smallest SUV it was showcased in Auto Expo 2020 and was expecting a launch in April but similar to other cars on this list, its launch is also pushed further back to FY2021. The concept shown in AutoExpo 2020 will be 90% of the car meaning the model shows was almost ready to be sold.

Indian Automobile sector doesn’t seem to get a break at all. First, the 2019 slump and now coronavirus are reigning havoc on the industry with the blunt of it is taken by the small-time traders and workers.
