Car Sales Report November 2020 | Tata Motors Is On A Roll!

The Indian automobile industry seems to have revived itself from the effect of the ongoing pandemic. People are buying and using cars just like they used to do before the new normal. We have seen many new car launches while the pandemic still persists. While 2020 is finally about to come to an end, the automotive sales are showing good numbers and new brands like Kia and MG have also made themselves a known name in many households. Let’s have a look at the car sales in the month of November 2020.

  1. Maruti Suzuki (1,35,775 units)

Now you might say that we stated that MSIL faced a drop. How come they are still at the top? Well, Maruti Suzuki continues to be India’s favourite car brand and is at the top of the list for the car sales report November 2020. The only thing to notice here is that they have faced a YoY drop of 2% which is a considerable number because it is Maruti Suzuki! Otherwise, selling 1.35Lakh units with the ongoing pandemic is a really commendable job. FYI, Maruti’s market share has also dropped significantly this month which is definitely a wake-up call for them regarding the customer’s shift from mileage to safety.

  2. Hyundai Motor India Limited (48,800 units)

Although Hyundai has faced selective criticism in terms of Creta’s design or i20’s pricing, they have managed to score second place in the November 2020 car sales. This month, the Korean automaker sold a total of 48,800 units which is 9% more than what they sold the last year. In other words, they have seen a YoY growth which Maruti couldn’t! We are expecting many new launches from Hyundai in the upcoming year but will they be able to overtake Maruti ever? What do you think?

  3. Tata Motors (21,600 units)

The synonym of safety in India! Tata Motors is definitely on a roll in terms of sales. They sold 21,600 units this time which is more than double of what they sold last year. This is the Indian brand which is trying its best to shift the focus of the Indian audience from mileage towards safety. Nexon got a 5-Star NCAP rating and it was the first Indian car to get that. With a whopping 108% of YoY growth rate, Tata Motors stands at the third place in the November car sales with an expectation of a swift climb soon.

  4. Kia Motors India

    Kia Sonet

The car you see above is breaking all the sale records. The Kia Sonet has gained rocket high sales just after it was launched! We must say Indians have given a really overwhelming response to the new Korean brand in India. No doubt Sonet has contributed the major part in Kia’s sales, Seltos also continues to sell in decent number despite the competition from the Hyundai Creta. Kia sold 21,022 units in the last month which means a YoY growth of 50%.

  5. Mahindra & Mahindra (18,212 units)

Another Indian brand that is trying to shift the customer focus towards safety. Mahindra has just launched the Thar which also got a 4-star NCAP rating. Apart from this, they are testing the XUV500 which will be launched soon. While they are launching new cars, the Bolero and Scorpio continue to sell without any drop! For the car sales in November 2020, Mahindra sold 18,212 units with a 28% YoY sale growth.

  6. Renault India (10,081 units)

While the Renault Triber has gained a huge customer base, the Duster and Kwid also continue to be successful in the Indian market. Renault has also been here for quite long now and people have developed a trust in this name. However, this time for the car sales in November 2020, Renault experienced a 6% YoY drop in sales. Unlike Maruti, this figure won’t matter to Renault that much because their sale number is too low in comparison to MSIL.

  7. Honda Car India Limited (9,990 units)

The Japanese auto giant stands at the 7th place for car sales in November 2020. Honda City continues to be the favourite pick for a large number of sedan lovers in India. On the other hand, the 2020 Honda Jazz and the W-RV have also got decent sale number which have to lead to a cumulative sale of 9,990 units for Honda India in the last month. In comparison to the same month last year, this figure has seen a 55% rise which is quite great!

  8. Toyota Kirloskar Motor (8,500 units)

The Innova facelift has just hit the showrooms and the Urban Cruiser was also launched recently. It seems that the UC has not been able to help Toyota to reach the masses like Maruti. Same is the case with Glanza. It has never been able to match or exceed Baleno’s sales in India. Toyota gained a sale number of 8,500 units this time where the majority is still held by trusted names like Innova and Fortuner.

  9. Morris Garages India (4,163 units)

The Chinese brand has seen a growth in both YoY and MoM terms. This means that MG sold more cars than they did in November 2019 and October 2020 respectively. The launch if Hector Plus and Gloster are really proving to be a threat to the already existing segment leaders. The Gloster comes packed with so many features that it has already started selling in great numbers. We wish to see more cars in the MG lineup really soon. They sold 4,163 units for the month of November 2020.

  10. Ford India Pvt. Ltd.

    Ford Ecosport

Last but not least. This American brand is having a tough time in India at present. Ford has no plans to expand its lineup in India therefore, we will have to deal with the same lineup till the brand exists in our country. Considering this fact, Ford sold a total of 3,991 units for car sales in November 2020. This means a 26% YoY drop in their sales. Should Ford leave India? What do you think?

Here is the tabular representation of the car sales for November 2020.
