Maruti Suzuki (1,63,656 Units)
The absolute dominator! Maruti Suzuki, as always, remains unbeatable in terms of sales. Every time we prepare a list of the top-selling cars in India, we see that MSIL dominates the list every time. Maintaining the same reputation, the Indian automaker has sold 1.63 Lakh units which is the highest monthly sale recorded till now! Talking about October 2019, Maruti sold 1.39 Lakh cars. Car Sales October 2020 has been good for MSIL as they have recorded a growth of almost 18%!
Hyundai (56,605 Units)
The new Hyundai i20 is all set to hit the Indian market this week. While Maruti remains the only brand which has sold over 1 Lakh units in October 2020, Hyundai stands on the second place with a sale of 56,605 units. The 2020 Hyundai Creta and other new launches have really helped in boosting their sales but as we mentioned above, no one has been able to match Maruti’s sale number yet. HMIL saw a 13.19% YoY growth.
Tata Motors (23,600 Units)
While the Nexon EV ended up as the top-selling electric car in India for the month of October 2020, other Tata vehicles have also contributed to the overall sales growth of this Indian brand. Indian customers now have a concern towards safety. The growing need for safe cars in India has made people invest in cars like Tiago and Nexon. Tata Motors has recorded a whopping 79.21% YoY growth which clearly shows that Indians have actually started preferring safety over mileage! Tata sold 23,600 cars this month.
Kia Motors (21,021 Units)
Kia Motors doesn’t look like a new entrant in India now. The number of Kia cars that people buy every month indicates towards a bright future for sure. Talking about car sales October 2020, Kia sold a total of 21,021 units. Kia Seltos continues to be a tough competition for the Hyundai Creta while the Kia Sonet has also set a new benchmark n terms of sales and competition!
Mahindra & Mahindra (18,622 Units)
Another Indian auto manufacturer who has joined the league of making safe cars for India. Be it the XUV300 or the Marazzo, Mahindra is developing safe cars as well. They are also planning to launch the eKUV100 really soon in Indian which will get them into the world of EVs too. Talking about the car sales October 2020, Mahindra sold 18,622 units with a YoY growth of 0.88%.
Toyota (12,373 Units)
The Japanese automaker has joined hands with MSIL in a hope to gain some customers in the affordable range. They have launched Glanza and Urban Cruiser in the affordable range but it seems like the Indian audience is inclined towards Maruti only. We are saying this because the sales figure of Glanza is nowhere near Baleno’s sale number. Why do you think is it so? Let us know in the comments section below. For the car sales October 2020, Toyota sold 12,372 units.
Renault (11,005 Units)
Another brand that has seen a rise in car sales in India is Renault. Triber and Kwid are doing good in the Indian market while other cars down the lineup continue to contribute a decent number too. Renault sold a total of 11,005 units this month! However, Renault has seen a drop in the YoY sale figure in comparison to its sale in October 2019.
Honda (10,836 Units)
Honda had launched the 2020 City recently. This Japanese brand has always been an absolute favourite for Indians but October 2020 has not been that great for Honda. With a small YoY growth of 6.25%, Honda has sold 10,836 units for the month of October 2020.
Ford (7,084 Units)
A brand that had a good start in India but is now experiencing dwindling sales in India at present. Although they have shown a 22% YoY growth but they haven’t been able to sell even 10,000 vehicles last month! Ford really needs to bring n some major changes to the lineup in order to sustain their market in India. What do you think?
Morris Garages (3,750 Units)
Morris Garages has now got 4 cars in their Indian lineup. The MG Hector, Hector Plus, Gloster and the ZS EV. MG continues to grow at a stable rate in India but Kia overtook them because they hit the affordable segment with the Sonet and there is no such news from MG yet. MG sold 3,750 units this month with an impressive YoY growth of 47.81%!
