Here is a list of 20 cars we feel will be launching next year.
Toyota Hilux (January 2022)*
One of the most anticipated vehicles in India is the Toyota Hilux. The vehicle based on the Fortuner is said to rival the only other car (rather a truck) in the market, ISUZU D-MAX. Launching the Hilux is among the best moves by Toyota as they are setting foot in the segment with not many vehicles.
GoMechanic News: Toyota Hilux Launching in India January 2022
Toyota Hilux is expected to come with a couple of engine options like the Innova Crysta and Fortuner. Under the hood, Hilux might get a 2.4-litre and a 2.8litre turbo diesel engine. Talking about 2.4, it can generate a peak power of 150hp, whereas the bigger one will generate a max power of 204bhp.
Maruti Suzuki Baleno (Q1 2022)*
The following vehicle to feature is the new Maruti Suzuki Baleno. It’s been a long time since Maruti’s top-selling carmaker has updated their premium hatchback Baleno. There have been instances where people did get a glimpse of this hatchback under camo. Maruti Suzuki is not finally ready to give the Baleno a complete overhaul.

Speaking of which, we can expect the new Baleno to get a new floating infotainment system with a revamped interior. But there might not be any change under the bonnet. Although we are not aware of the exact date of the new Baleno’s launch, we are guessing Maruti will launch the facelifted Baleno in the Q1 of 2022.
Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza (Mid 2022)*
Moving on, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza is among the best selling cars in India. With SUVs ever gaining popularity, Vitara Brezza happened to be just the right move for this renowned carmaker. That said, it’s been a while since Maruti Suzuki has updated the Vitara Brezza.
We think the wait is about to get over at Maruti Suzuki is working in the generating change of the new Vitara Brezza. This time around, Brezza might get the right ingredients to conquer the subcompact SUV segment in India. With that clear, we assume Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza to get multiple new features and a completely new electrified powertrain.
Skoda Kodiaq (Q1 2022)*
The Czech carmaker that has leveled up its game in India has another new vehicle lined up, Skoda Kodiaq. Sitting in the premium SUV segment, it is among the best in the business. We expect Skoda to launch the Kodiaq somewhere in the first quarter of 2022.

This is where the new Skoda might come with only a petrol engine. Expect the same 2.0-litre TSI motor, generating peak horses of 187, like the one in Skoda Superb and Octavia. We’d say, for those looking for an SUV in the ₹30-₹35 lakh price range, Skoda Kodiaq is worth the wait.
Citroen C3 (Q1 2022)*
A while back, the French carmaker Citroen launched their first vehicle, C5 Aircross and now they are set to unveil another vehicle. This time around, Citroen is Planning to launch a compact SUV C3 in India. Expect this carmaker to launch this SUV somewhere in the first quarter of 2022.
Like the C5 Aircross, the C3 might get a well-built cabin with a unique exterior design. Along with that, there might be an option of a 1.-litre naturally aspirated petrol and a turbo petrol motor under the hood.
Toyota Rumion (Q1 2022)*
Apart from a few, most of the new cars launched from Toyota are not exciting. For most, they have rebadged Maruti Suzuki cars. Well, it is the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga that has been rebadged, and this time it is called Rumion. Like the other badge interchanged cars, the Rumion is the same as its donor MPV.
A deeper look at Toyota Rumion, New Rebadged Maruti Ertiga?
Meaning, the Toyota Rumion gets the same set of everything, from features to comfort and the powertrain. Speaking of which, it is a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol motor capable of generating 105ps of max power. We expect the Toyota Rumion to come somewhere in Q1 of 2022.
Toyota Belta (Q1 2022)*
Moving on, the following vehicle is also the result of the global Suzuki and Toyota alliance, Toyota Belta. Okay, under the core DNA, it is identical to the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, minus the Suzuki badge, of course. Ciaz is among the most comfortable vehicles in the segment and among the most affordable.
The same adjectives can also be said for the Toyota Belta too. Toyota Belta also gets the same set of features, engine and transmission. Like the Rumion, the Belta is expected to be launched in the first quarter of next year.
Hyundai Creta (Q1 2022)*
Exciting news, India’s favourite compact SUV, Creta, which also happens to be Hyundai’s best selling vehicle, is about to get its midlife facelift. We believe Hyundai Creta will be launched in the first quarter of 2022.
In this update, Creta will follow the same design cues as the new Hyundai Santafe in the global market. Along with cosmetic updates, the new Creta is also expected to get an updated feature list.
Volkswagen Virtus (Mid 2022)*
In the India 2.0 scheme, Skoda and Volkswagen are working in tandem to sell more cars in the domestic market. The following vehicle readying up for launch is the new Volkswagen Virtus. This upcoming sedan from Volkswagen will share the MQB AO IN platform like the other cars like the Kushaq, Taigun and Slavia.
Volkswagen Virtus is coming in a competitive but not so hot segment. We expect the Virtus to go with the two sets of turbo-petrol engines a 1.0-litre and a 1.5-litre. Additionally, we also assume that the Virtus will replace the ongoing Volkswagen Vento from the company’s line-up.
Maruti Suzuki Alto (Mid 2022)*

Worry not; in the first quarter of 2022, Hyundai plans to launch the next generation Tucson in India. This generation changes will bring a ton of difference to the interior and the exterior. Maruti Suzuki Jimny (End of 2022)*
The most desired vehicle for which people are waiting is the Maruti Suzuki Jimny. The Suzuki Jimny has already been a part of the international Suzuki market. However, that is about to change as Maruti Suzuki plans to launch this rugged vehicle in India somewhere towards the end of 2022 (expectations).
This is where the true Thar rival will cruise on the Indian roads. That said, we expect the Maruti Suzuki Jimny to come powered by the same 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine with no diesel option. However, there surely will be a 4X4 variant of the Maruti Jimny.
Mahindra Scorpio (Q1 2022)*
Talking about the true SUV in India, Mahindra Scorpio indeed has a special place in our hearts. Now, after almost a decade, Mahindra is ready to launch the next-gen Scorpio in the Indian market. But the launch of XUV700 has increased our expectations for the new Mahindra Scorpio.
As of now, we believe that the new Scorpio will get a couple of engine options, a diesel and turbo petrol. Over that, 4X4 is like adding chocolate to the mix. Seeing the spy shots, we know it’ll be feature-packed to the brim. Also, Mahindra might launch the new Scorpio in the first quarter of 2022.

Considering the law changes, we believe that India will become a busy hub for electric vehicles in the upcoming months. The next electric vehicle that might launch in India is the Tata Altroz EV.
With research and development going in full swing, Tata may launch the electrified version of Altroz next year. We believe, Altroz will underpin the similar drive and powertrain as Tata Nexon but maybe slightly detuned.
Toyota Hyryder (Mid 2022)*
Okay, Toyota is not over with replacing the badge in India. This time it’s the next-gen WagonR and will be called Toyota Hyryder.
