Cars you could have bought If not the FIRST 2020 Mahindra Thar

The first 2020 Mahindra Thar is on auction which will be ending today. The first ultimate offroader at present, i.e 11:15 AM, 29th August 2020, is at a bid of ₹95,25,500. And I think it will cross ₹1 crore by the end of the bidding. The cause is noble, we all know. But it crosses my wicked mind that what all you could have bought with this much money (If you had!) instead of buying the first 2020 Mahindra Thar.

  1. 1 Mercedes Benz GLS 450

    The ultra-luxury SUV is a pinnacle of comfort and performance, as the company says. Talking about the features, The GLS comes with a Touchscreen Widescreen Cockpit, Burmester Surround Sound System with 13 speakers, Panoramic sliding roof, multibeam LED headlamps, wireless charging, active brake assist, blind-spot assist, 360-degree parking camera and so on. And it all comes at a price of ₹99,90,000.

    Not 1 but 2 Beamers. And that too M Sport we are talking about. BMW 330i M Sport comes at a price of ₹48,50,000. And under the hood, it gets TwinPower Turbo 4-cylinder petrol engine which produces 258hp of power and a peak torque of 400Nm. 0-100 kmph comes in 5.8-seconds. The engine comes mated to an 8-speed automatic sport transmission. Standard features package includes Sports leather steering wheel with paddle shifters, 3-zone Automatic air conditioning, electrically adjustable driver’s seat, HiFi loudspeaker system, electrically operated glass roof and much more.

The ladder on frame chassis SUV comes with paddle shifters, active traction control, hill assist control, downhill assist control, Vehicle stability control, engine start-stop button and much more. But you will have to miss on a sunroof! But hey, it’s Fortuner after all!

  4. 4 Jeep Compass

    It is the Trailhawk we are talking about. The Jeep Compass Trailhawk variant comes at a price ₹26,80,000. This compact SUV is powered by a 2.0-litre Multijet Diesel engine mated to a 9-speed AT and that too in the 4X4 drive type. The engine produces 170.6hp of power and a peak torque of 350 Nm. And with the money being spent on the first 2020 Mahindra Thar, one could have bought 4 Jeep Compass. On the features front, you get to experience 8.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, hill descent control, hood decal, cruise control, panoramic sunroof and so on. If you are looking for the most powerful SUV of the 3, Tata Harrier is what you can go for. When the driving dynamics are concerned, it is the Kia Seltos. And if driving comfort is what you seek, go for the Hyundai Creta.

    Well, if you are buying 1 Mahindra Thar, why not buy 6 of them. The expected price of 2020 Mahindra Thar is ₹15,00,000. This is not the final price, we’ll have to wait for that. The first Mahindra Thar will have customized badge on the vehicle with your initials, serial no.1 on the decorative VIN plate on the dashboard and leatherette seats. So, if you don’t fancy these extras, 6 is the number of Thar you can have in your garage.

And the latest SUV hosts a plethora of features such as front parking sensors, front ventilated seats, Bose speaker system, electric sunroof, 10.25-inch HD infotainment system, wireless smartphone charger with cooling function, cooled glove box and the list continues.

    One of my favourite hatchbacks and a pocket rocket for sure. The 1.0-litre GDi engine which produces a peak torque of 172 Nm powers the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios Turbo. The hatch offers an excellent power-to-weight ratio. And you can have 10 or maybe more than 10 in your garage if you had the amount someone is currently spending on the 2020 Mahindra Thar. The price you’ll have to pay is around ₹8-9 lakhs. So, you can even buy more than 10 of it.

So, these are the cars that you can buy with the money being spent on the 2020 Mahindra Thar. We know that the reason behind the bid is noble and we don’t in any way oppose it.
