10 Cars With The Highest Waiting Period In February 2022

As the industry witnessed some fantastic launches, a hidden waiting period came along. This is a problem that new car buyers are facing. Due to the increased demand and chip shortage, production and delivery are immensely affected.

This has driven up the waiting periods to an all-time high, especially for SUVs. There is a minimum waiting period of 4 months if you are buying a car that is high in demand. Here we have the cars with the highest waiting period in February 2022:

  1. Mahindra XUV700:Upto 19 months

    Starting with the most awaited SUV, XUV700. It comes up on the top in terms of power and features, and the same goes for the waiting period. It has a waiting period of upto 19 months.

    Depending on the colour and variant choice, the waiting period could vary a few months. It could get cut to around ten months if you select a different variant and get your car a little early.

  2. Mahindra Thar: Upto 12 months

    The 2020 Thar has a huge fan following, and Mahindra has already crossed 75,000 bookings. They deliver about 4,000 units in a month, but the waiting periods are still long.

    Again depending on the colour and variant, the waiting period goes from 6 months to a whole year. The Thar has been in huge demand, especially by the youth.

  3. Hyundai Creta: Upto 10 months

    Creta has been the top-performing candidate for Hyundai for a significant time. It has been running well in the mid-size SUV segment, but again now the waiting period is extended to 10 months.

    The base variant is the highest in demand, and you will have to wait for about ten months for it, while the others might reach the buyers in 6 months.

  4. Maruti Ertiga: Up to 9 months

    Ertiga has been slaying the MUV segment since the launch, and Toyota has already rebadged it as Rumion. The rebadged Ertiga is expected to reach India this year, but till then, there is a waiting period of about 3-5 months for petrol variants.

    The CNG variants, however, will take longer than that. The buyers will have to wait for up to 9 months for the CNG variants. As it is the only MUV with a factory-fitted CNG kit, there is more demand.

  5. Tata Punch: Upto 8 months

    Punch has performed well along with Nexon in the previous month. Tata has already set a milestone and sold slightly more than 10,000 units in January 2022.

    Punch offers a lot at an affordable price and receives immense love from the people. This places the demand high with 4-8 months waiting. Again the base variant is the highest in demand setting the waiting period to 8 months.

  6. Kia Sonet: Upto 6 months

    Sonet has also been among the performing assets of the company but has witnessed a slight decline the previous month. But it still has a waiting period from 3- 6 months depending on the variant.

    Hyundai might need to focus a little on Sonet & Venue to get back to the previous sales numbers.

  7. Kia Seltos: Upto 6 months

    Similar to its little sibling, the Seltos also has a similar waiting period from 3-6 months, depending on the variant. Seltos & Creta have been running well in the segment and growing with time.

    The last month’s numbers state a 16% YoY growth for the mid-size SUV along with the waiting period.

  8. Nissan Magnite: Upto 5 months

    Magnite has been like a saviour for Nissan; it offers an affordable and promising package of features with a 4-star safety rating. Nissan delivered about 3,000 units in a month, but there is still a waiting period from 3-5 months.

    It is offered in various variants, and Nissan could deliver most variants in 3 months from the day of booking. Some selected variants would take about five months.

  9. Tata Nexon: Upto 4 months

    Nexon has been pacing up in the compact SUV segment now and has already beaten Venue & Brezza. It has been the top performer from its lineup and in the segment and might be leading for some time.

    Tata sold about 13,000 units in the previous month; the waiting period for Nexon is about four months for the IC engine variants and three months for the EV version.

  10. MG Astor: Upto 4 months

    Astor is the second car in MG’s lineup with ADAS level 2. It is the IC engine version of ZS EV, which is also expected to get a facelift. It has the lowest waiting period in the segment.

    For some variants, it is about one or two months, which can go upto four. This might be slightly disappointing for a car in this segment, Astor comes with a variety of tech and an AI assistant too
