10 Cars in India with Paddle Shifters | Flappy Paddle Special

Tired of shifting of gears using the gear lever? Want something more sporty and yet are tight on budget to be able to spend on a luxury sports car? Well, the carmakers have heard you and come up with gear shifters behind the steering wheel, also called paddle shifters. Now, you won’t have to get your hands off the wheel while driving, all you need to do is use the paddle shifters. Here is a list of 10 cars in India that comes with paddle shifters. Note that all the prices mentioned below are ex-showroom, Delhi prices.

  1. Honda Amaze (CVT)

    The Japanese brand is known to have some of the best cars across the segment. Honda Amaze is the one in the subcompact sedan segment. It is the first car in this segment with the paddle shifters. The company offers two engine options with the Honda Amaze, a 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol engine and 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel engine. The engines are paired to manual as well as automatic transmission. The V and VX variant offers paddle shifters in the petrol CVT versions only. The V variant with Petrol engine paired to a CVT comes at a price of ₹8,34,000 (ex-showroom) and he VX variant costs around ₹8,75,900 (ex-showroom).

  2. Hyundai Verna (DCT)

    The sedan recently received an upgrade with the all-new Hyundai Verna 2020 launch. It got the company’s favourite 1.0-litre Kappa Turbo GDi Petrol engine with a 7-speed DCT transmission. The best thing about the sedan is that the turbo variant gets paddle shifters behind the steering wheel. You will have to spend ₹13,84,900(ex-showroom) for the turbo variant of Hyundai Verna. The other two naturally aspirated engines are not offered with this feature though.

  3. Honda City (CVT)

    India’s favourite sedan, the Honda City comes with paddle shifters. A 1.5-litre i-VTEC engine paired to either a manual transmission or a 7-speed CVT transmission is the power source of the Honda City. The CVT variants get paddle shifters. The trims that offer the paddle shifters are V, VX and ZX. You will have to spend ₹12,01,000; ₹13,12,000; and ₹14,31,000 respectively for the variants. Note that the paddle shifters in Honda City are first in the segment.

  4. Toyota Yaris (CVT)

    The premium sedan from Toyota, Yaris also comes equipped with paddle shifters so that everything is just a finger away. A 1.5-litre Dual VVT-i petrol engine paired to a 7-speed super CVT-i is the power source of this sedan. There is a 6-speed manual transmission also, but the paddle shifters are offered with the automatic one. Paddle shifters are offered with the VX variant only though CVT is offered across all variants. You will have to spend ₹14,30,000 in order to buy one.

  5. Hyundai Creta (DCT)

    At the Auto Expo 2020, Hyundai launched the all-new 2020 Creta. This compact SUV is the first-in-segment to come with paddle shifters. The variants which have the paddle shifters are the SX and SX(O). A 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine is common in both the variants. The transmission at play is the 7-speed DCT. For the SX variant, you will have to spend ₹16,16,000 while for the SX(O), the price goes up by ₹1,04,000. The prices are ex-showroom.

  6. Honda Civic (CVT)

    Civic is a luxury sedan from Honda which is popular among the elite masses of India. A 1.8-litre SOHC i-VTEC petrol engine, paired to a CVT transmission, powers the Honda Civic. All the variants are offered with paddle shifters behind the steering wheel. The variants offered are V, VX and ZX. The prices are as follows: ₹17,93,000 for V; ₹19,44,900 for VX and ₹21,24,900 for ZX.

  7. Ford EcoSport

    There are two engine options: 1.5-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel. The variant which gets the paddle shifters behind the steering wheel is the Titanium one with the automatic transmission. You will have to shed around ₹11,43,000 to buy one. Ecosport is a popular subcompact SUV in India, being the first subcompact SUV in the country.

  8. Volkswagen T-Roc (DSG)

    The SUV from Volkswagen comes with a 1.5-litre TSI EVO engine with Active Cylinder Technology (ACT) which churns out 148hp of power and a peak torque of 250Nm. For the transmission, 7-speed Automatic DSG does the duty. It has got paddle shift gears. The introductory price for this SUV is ₹19,90,000.

  9. Skoda Karoq (DSG)

    Skoda launched this SUV recently. The Karoq is powered by a 1.5-litre TSI engine mated to a 7-speed DCT. It also gets paddle shifters behind the steering so that you can experience the thrill of the sporty engine. The price is rather on a higher side, with a starting price of ₹24,99,000. The steep price is due to the CBU route Skoda has chosen to bring the Karoq to our shores.

  10. Skoda Octavia RS245 (DSG)

    The 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine which produces 245hp of power and a peak torque of 370Nm is what powers the Octavia RS 245. It is paired to a 7-speed automatic DSG which can be controlled using the paddle shifters behind the steering wheel. You will have to spend over ₹36,00,000.
