Now with an enlightening drive, the West Delhi Traffic police are issuing challans on various reasons. For now, let’s retain our focus to only the rear seats of the 4 wheeler.

As of now, there are no official announcements made for challans to be issued for not wearing seatbelts.

  • But it is mostly to spread awareness about the regulations that are already a part of the rule book but are not readily followed.
  • The Traffic Police is imposing fine of up to ₹1,000/- for rear passengers not wearing seat belts.
  • Due to Challans for the front seat belts, we have seen a really positive response. Hence to enhance the overall safety of the occupants, now the rear passengers too have to buckle up.
  • Additionally, during this drive, the traffic cops are also forcing challans for two-wheelers without rear-view mirrors.
  • This is done as many of the young motorcyclists are seen with two-wheelers without rear-view mirrors. And these mirrors are an essential component when driving on streets like Delhi’s’.

As per our sources, this enlightening drive started on 13th January 2021 and will end on 23rd January 2021 and may extend later. Also, as of now, this initiative is for the western region although the police wish to extend it to other parts of the national capital.
