    The most powerful car on this list of cheapest diesel hatchbacks! The Hyundai i20 gets a 1.5L Diesel engine that makes 99HP and 240nm torque! That’s a massive amount of torque for a car of this size. To put things into perspective, the 1.4L Turbo petrol on the Creta makes 242nm torque. So you can imagine what a pocket rocket this one must be!

So here was a list of the cheapest diesel cars in India. With Maruti Suzuki pulling the plug on all diesel engines, the list has become much smaller than what it could have been. Also, many cars now come with factory-fitted CNG kits, which are much more efficient and more eco-friendly than a diesel motor. This also contributes to this list is as short as it is.
