Upcoming CNG Cars Launching In 2023!

CNG cars have been gaining popularity in the last 2 years. Major hatchbacks and MPVs like the Baleno, Tiago, and the Ertiga all have released CNG variants. Even major sedans like the Dzire and the Tigor have released CNG variants. Yes, EVs are cheaper to drive, but CNGs are more accessible and are way cheaper to buy. CNGs are also much cheaper than hybrids. Today, let’s take a look at some of the most anticipated CNG cars launching in 2023!

  1. Hyundai Creta

The first name on this list of CNG cars launching in 2023 is the Hyundai Creta, and it is also the most surprising name. It is one of those cars that doesn’t really need a CNG variant, and we’ve spoken about it here. However, Hyundai has been testing a CNG variant for the Creta. Reportedly, the 1.4L turbo petrol engine is going to be paired with a CNG kit and a 6-speed manual transmission. It is also speculated that Hyundai might bring in a new 1.5L turbo engine for this variant, but this is highly unlikely. Normally, the 1.4L turbo petrol engine makes 138HP and 242nm, but in the CNG variant, power outputs are expected to drop.

  2. Kia Carens

The next name on this list of CNG cars launching in 2023 is the Kia Carens. The Carens was launched as a premium alternative to the Maruti Ertiga. With the CNG variant, the Carens may make it big in the commercial sector. Even for the Carens, the 1.4L turbo petrol engine (same as the Creta) is expected to get a CNG kit. When launched, the CNG variant of the Carens will stand neck to neck with the Maruti Ertiga.

  3. Tata Altroz

Tata recently launched CNG variants of the Tiago and the Tigor. The Altroz is also expected to get a CNG variant in the next year. The 3-cylinder, 1.2L petrol engine will be paired with a CNG kit and power outputs are expected to be around 72HP and 92nm. The CNG variants of the Altroz will directly compete with the Baleno and the Glanza. Tata Altroz DCA Opera Blue

  4. Tata Nexon

The next Tata car on this list of CNG cars launching in 2023 is the Nexon. The sub-compact SUV segment has no CNG variants as of now, and the Nexon may be the first one. Just like the Altroz, the 1.2L petrol engine will be paired with a CNG kit. However, we do hope that the Nexon CNG churns out a bit more power than the Altroz.

  5. Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara

The first Maruti on this list of CNG cars launching in 2023 is the Grand Vitara. The flagship SUV from Maruti is bound to get a CNG Variant next year. The power figures here are expected to drop to 88HP and 121nm in the CNG variant. The transmission with this will be a 5-speed manual. It is highly unexpected that the AWD variant will get CNG. Most likely, the mid-variants will be the only ones getting a CNG option.

  6. Toyota Hyryder

The only Toyota on this list of CNG cars launching in 2023 is the Hyryder. Just like the Grand Vitara, the Hyryder will also get CNG variants next year. Here too, only the mid-level variants are expected to get CNG options. The 1.5L petrol engine will get a CNG kit and will be mated to a 5-speed manual transmission.

  7. Kia Sonet

Another sub-compact SUV on this list of CNG cars launching in 2023 is the Kia Sonet. Instead of the 1.2L NA petrol, the 1L turbo petrol is expected to get the CNG variant. The transmission here will be a 6-speed manual. The Sonet is one of the most feature-loaded cars in the segment. Moreover, it is a much better-looking car than its competitors. The CNG variant would be a good addition here and will surely expand the audience for the Sonet.

  8. Maruti Suzuki Brezza

The last sub-compact SUV on this list of CNG cars launching in 2023 is the Maruti Brezza. Even without the diesel engine, the Brezza is one of the best-selling cars in its segment. And with the 2022 update, it has also received new features like a sunroof, a 360-degree camera, and a heads-up display. The CNG variant here would surely be a hit in the market. Primarily because a lot of people loved the Brezza for the efficiency of the diesel, and the CNG variant will bring back all those customers.

  9. Tata Punch

This list of CNG cars launching in 2023 is filled with Tatas! The Punch is the next name from Tata, and a CNG variant is expected in 2023 for this micro-SUV as well. Looks like the 1.2L engine is already mated to a CNG, and Tata is planning on using it on every car that uses this engine. The Punch will also be included in this fleet. Ever since its launch, the Punch has been doing really well and the CNG variant will surely be an excellent addition to its lineup of variants. Tata Punch

  10. Maruti Suzuki Swift

India’s favorite hatchback also comes on this list of CNG cars launching in 2023! The Swift CNG has been expected for a long time now, and it is finally launching in 2023. Just like the Brezza, the diesel engine of the Swift was really loved for its mileage, and the CNG variant will bring back that efficiency and low cost of driving. The 1.2L petrol engine is also quite efficient, but the CNG variant will hit just the right spot.
