Coronavirus: Rolls-Royce To Shuts down the Production At Goodwood

Coronavirus or Covid-19 has engulfed the world. Many car brands across the globe are stopping production. The luxury car manufacturer Rolls-Royce based in the UK is also concerned about this ever-growing pandemic.

Rolls Royce suspends the manufacturing unit in Goodwood. The officials at the facility declare a shut down for two weeks. The facility will stop production from 23rd of March which will increase further 2 weeks. The additional shutdown is for the pre-planned Ester-maintenance.

Production Shutdown

  • Rolls Royce worried about their employees for the increases coronavirus cases in the country. That is the first and foremost reason for the shutdown added Rolls Royce officials.
  • The company also suffers a lack of supply of components from around the globe as the market is suffering and on the verge of dying.
  • The virus being air-bone in nature s causing a high risk to the workers. So the company has given the non-manufacturing staff to work from home or encourages them to work in shifts.
  • Coronavirus has over 2600 cases and about 71 deaths in the country forced the company to take strict actions.
  • Rolls Royce being a customer-focused company show their concerns and apologies to their esteemed customers.

In addition to that, the UK’s Prime Minister asked all the automakers to manufacture different medical types of equipment that can tackle Coronavirus. Well, the companies can work alongside the defense industry for some support in building the health care equipment to meet the requirements.

Not just Rolls Royce but also Nissan, BMW, and Toyota are among the companies to shut their manufacturing in the country. This leaves Jaguar, Land Rover, and Honda to be still operational until further notice.

This will surely affect the Auto Industry in the country. So much so that around 17,000 employees will be suffering due to the Coronavirus or Covid-19 pandemic.
