As a CNG fitted test mule of the Creta has been spotted during its emission test by ARAI near Hyundai’s manufacturing facility in Pune.

What exactly do we know about this Toyota Hyryder CNG rival?

  • Well, there is not much out yet, but during our research, we found that the Creta CNG will be based on its 1.4L turbo petrol engine.
  • This might be the first time when a stock CNG variant will be based on a turbo engine.
  • When in its standard form, the turbo petrol generates 138bhp with a peak torque of 242Nm.

  • It usually comes paired with a 7-speed DCT transmission but with the CNG inlet, it could offer a standard 6-speed automatic gearbox.
  • Of course, in its CNG form, the Hyundai Creta will produce less power.
  • Talking about features, it is expected to remain the same as the current spec Creta.
  • It is also expected that just after the Creta CNG, Hyundai and its sister brand Kia will launch an array of stock CNG vehicles.

  • These include Hyundai Alcazar, Kia Seltos and the Kia Carens.
  • With its launch, the Hyryder CNG rival will also come at a premium of at least ₹60,000 to its ICE cousin. Although, with ever-rising CNG prices (Now almost equivalent to petrol prices). It is hard to understand why is there still a rise in demand for CNG vehicles.
