Datsun has very recently launched the Facelifted 2020 Datsun Redigo with the prices starting at Rs 2.83 Lakhs. The RediGo is a budget hatchback that rivals the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Alto 800, Maruti Suzuki S-Presso and its other brother the Renault Kwid. On the inside, the 2020 Datsun RediGo gets dual-tone layout with accentuated dual-tone trims panels and fabric upholstery. It also gets an internally adjustable ORVMs, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The infotainment system also doubles up as the reverse parking camera screen. The RediGo gets a reverse parking camera with non-adaptive guidelines.
The 2020 Datsun RediGo also claims to have the best-in-class leg space for the occupants. The 222 litres boot space gets Flexible Storage Capacity with a Removable Parcel Tray.
Inside the Kwid’s “Ergo Smart Cabin”, it gets a dual-tone interior accentuated by a Sporty Orange & White Fabric Seat Upholstery with Striped Embossing (only on the climber). It also offers a rear armrest. There are a bunch of cupholders spread across the car and the Kwid claims a class-leading boot capacity of 279 litres which is expandable up to 620 litres by dropping down the rear seats.
For electronics and infotainments, the Kwid gets a fully Digital Instrument Cluster with a Digital Tachometer and other information like a Gear Shift Indicator, fuel consumption, average speed and distance to empty.
The Kwid gets a 20.32 cm Touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Video Playback and Voice Recognition. The hatchback also comes with a rear parking camera with non-adaptive guidelines.
For the AMT version, there is no gear lever, like on the RediGo, but the Kwid comes with a rotary knob mounted on the floor.

The new RediGo Facelift has been advertised with the tagline “Time To Go Bold” and indeed it does get some very bold features. Take the from facade for example with the chrome-finish honeycomb front grille, humungous L-shaped LED DRLs, new bumper, LED tail lamps. The new RediGo gets a lot of updates compared to the previous-gen.

The new RediGo is available in 6 colour options (Rs 3000 more for metallic colours): Vivid Blue, Sandstone Brown, Blade Silver, Opal White, Fire Red and Bronze Grey.
The Renault Kwid continues with its SUVish looks dialled up to 11 with the headlights now placed on the new bumper (similar to the MG Hector, Kia Seltos, Tata Harrier), it gets halogen headlamps with LED DRLs and partially LED tail lamps.
The 2019 Renault KWID facelift is available in 6 colour options; Zanskar Blue, Fiery Red, Moonlight Silver, Ice Cool White, Outback Bronze and Electric Blue.

When it comes to engine options, the new Datsun RediGo and the Kwid are a lot alike (it’s obvious though). Both cars get a BS6 Compliant 800cc and a 1000c engine option.
- The 2020 Datsun RediGo gets 2 engine options; an 800cc naturally aspirated petrol engine which produces 52bhp and 72nm of torque delivered via a 5-speed manual gearbox. No AMT option on this engine
- The other is a 1000cc naturally aspirated petrol good for 68bhp and 91nm of torque. This engine gets a 5-speed manual and an AMT option.
- Fuel efficiency figures are 20.71kmpl for the 800cc, 21.7kmpl for the 1000cc (manual) and 22kmpl for the 1000c (AMT).
- Similarly, the 2020 Renault Kwid also gets 0.8-litre and 1.0-litre engines; The 800cc naturally aspirated engine produces 53bhp and 72Nm.
- While, the 1000cc engine makes 67bhp and 91Nmof peak torque. Transmission options are also the same with a 5-speed manual transmission as standard on the 0.8 and the 1.0 while the AMT option is only reserved for the 1.0-litre variant.
- The mileage on the Kwid ranges from 23 to 25 km/l.

The 2020 Datsun RediGo and the Facelifted Renault Kwid are basically on the same level of features and highlights. This is obvious because both these cars come from the same family. However, the Renault Kwid makes more sense to buy given that, it is a proven car with much better after-sales service and resale value.
