Force Motors: The lesser-known Facts about the Indian Manufacturer

An Indian manufacturer, Force Motors has been a well-known brand manufacturing sturdy commercial and Sports Utility vehicles. But the brand is much more than that. Let’s have a look at what has remained unknown for a long time.

The BMW connection

Not many of you may know, but engines of BMW cars and SUVs are being made in India since 2015 at Force Motors. The engines range from 3-cylinder to 6-cylinder blocks. The BMW engines produced are:

1. 3-series: 4-cylinder
2. 5 series: 4 and 6-cylinder
3. 7 series: 6-cylinder
4. X1 range: 4-cylinder
5. X3 range: 4 and 6-cylinder
6. X5 range: 6-cylinder
7. X7 range: 4-cylinder

   

One such engine is the BMW 6-cylinder petrol engine. It can produce a power of 335hp and a peak torque of 450Nm.

Another BMW engine being made in India by the company is the 4-cylinder diesel engine which can churn out 187hp of power and a peak torque of 280 Nm. Till date around 45,000 units have been supplied by the company. But that’s not all.

There’s Another German Connection

And this connection dates back to the year 1997. Engines and axles of Mercedes Benz cars and SUVs have been made in India this long. The number of engines and axles supplied till date is 1,15,000 and 1,01,500 respectively. The Mercedes engines made are:

1. CLA Class: 4-cylinder
2. C Class: 4-cylinder
3. E Class: 4-cylinder
4. S Class: 6-cylinder-V Type
5. GLA Class: 4-cylinder
6. GLE Class: 6-cylinder-V Type
7. GLS Class: 6-cylinder-V Type

Yes, you read that right, V type engines are being made in India. The image below shows the 6-cylinder V type engine made in the country itself by the country’s own brand. It can churn out a 362hp of power and a maximum torque of 500 Nm.

Another engine manufactured is the 4 -cylinder diesel engine which can produce 241hp of power and 500 Nm of torque.

A 4-cylinder petrol engine producing 194hp of power and 320 Nm of torque is also produced at the Force Motors.
