Chinese carmaker which is also quite known as the lifesaver for Volvo and Lotus has now revealed that their all-new Icon Electric SUV is fully capable of fighting the Coronavirus which seems to be pretty wage on its own but nevertheless. The company has claimed that the Icon Electric SUV comes with an N95-rated air filtration system which eventually prevents bacteria and viruses including the Coronavirus from entering the car.
IAPS also known as the Intelligent Air Purification System works directly with the conjunction with the Icon SUV’s AC system which helps isolate as well as eliminate the harmful bacteria and viruses inside the cabin and with the world panicking due to this epidemic, a vehicle which has such a sophisticated APU system could be the right answer to all the wrong calls.
We hope that this isn’t just another marketing gimmick from the company. According to recent media reports the Geely Icon Electric SUV has already received over 30,000 pre-orders of the Icon electric SUV on its home turf “China” which seems pretty justified.
The Geely Icon Electric SUV was first showcased at the 2018 Beijing Auto Show and by the looks of it, the Icon SUV has a pretty minimalistic design with accentuated surfaces and clearly defined lines.
On the mechanical front, the Icon Electric SUV features a 1.5-litre petrol unit along with a 48 V mild-hybrid system adding 10 kW and 45 Nm of peak torque to the overall 140 kW (188 hp) with 300 Nm of peak torque. The engine comes mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
