Gen 3 Ather 450X Launched – Bigger Battery, Better Range!

After a long wait, Ather has finally launched the updated 450X and 450 Plus. These electric scooters have been in demand ever since the OLA S1 Pro started showing major issues! Here’s everything you need to know about the gen 3 Ather 450X.

  • Gen 3 Ather 450X – How does it look?

All-new Ather 450X

Well, it looks exactly the same as before, and this is not at all a complaint. Ather has retained the design and the frame, probably because it was already on point! What’s new is the revised mirrors and the new side pegs.

  • What’s New

7-inch touchscreen display

The gen 3 Ather 450X gets the same screen as before, but it has been upgraded. It now gets 2GB of extra RAM to support the new functions. These new functions include voice commands and multi-language support. The graphics on this screen are much better than before and it also offers more detailed information about your eScooter. The tyres have also been revised and they’re now a bit thicker. The tyre size has changed to 100/80/12, which makes them 10mm wider and the profile has been decreased by 10mm as well. 10mm might sound insignificant but the change will be noticeable in the handling dynamics for sure.

  • Gen 3 Ather 450X – RANGE!

Ather 450X realistic range

The most wanted upgrade here has been made to the battery. The new 450X gets a bigger, 3.7kWh battery with a higher range. ARAI tests suggest that the range should be around 145KMs, however, real-world numbers stand around 105KM (in eco mode). This is a big jump from the earlier range which was around 75 – 80KMs. Power has increased to 6.5 kW and torque remains the same at 26nm.

  • Pricing

The Gen 3 Ather 450X is priced at Rs. 1.39 Lakhs (ex-showroom). The pricing here is okay, not the most competitive but not something that would be a deal-breaker. The Rs. 10K over the OLA S1 Pro here are justified because Ather offers much better build quality and fit & finish, needless to say, it is also more reliable.
