Grand Vitara VS Creta | Should Hyundai Be Scared?

The Grand Vitara has officially launched in India at Rs. 10.45 Lakhs! This is Maruti’s first car that is loaded with so many features that it directly competes with the Korean SUVs. While Maruti has always been known as an affordable and VFM brand, is a Rs. 10-20 Lakhs Maruti SUV worth over a Creta? Today, let’s see the comparison of the grand Vitara VS Creta!

  • Design and Size

Looks are subjective, and both these SUVs have their own visual appeal. The Creta looks sleek and modern, while the Vitara looks a bit bulkier when put beside the Creta. The bulk may appeal to some people, and to some, it may not. Coming to dimensions, the Vitara is slightly bigger in each aspect. However, the Creta stands 10mm ahead in terms of wheelbase. In overall size and road presence, the Maruti takes a lead in this Grand Vitara VS Creta comparison.

Car Length Height Width Wheelbase
Grand Vitara 4345mm 1645mm 1795mm 2600mm
Creta 4300mm 1635mm 1790mm 2610mm

  • Grand Vitara VS Creta – Engines and Transmission

We’ll just be comparing the petrol engines here since the Vitara doesn’t get a diesel option. Both cars get 2 petrol engines. The naturally aspirated is the common option between the two. Coming to the second option, both brands have gone in different directions. The Grand Vitara gets a strong hybrid system whereas the Creta gets a performance-oriented turbo petrol. In this comparison of the Grand Vitara VS Creta, the Vitara wins when it comes to fuel efficiency, and the Creta wins when it comes to performance.

  • Grand Vitara VS Creta – Interior and Features!

One of the most exciting points of comparison is definitely features. Now usually, you would believe that the Creta will have way more features when compared to the Virata. However, Maruti has changed this time around. Yes, the Creta still gets a few extra features like an electric driver’s seat, auto-parking brake, and auto-hold. However, the Vitara comes neck to neck in all other aspects. It gets a huge panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, a completely digital driver’s display, ambient lighting, wireless charging, and much more. Moreover, the Vitara gets a few features over the Creta like a 360-degree camera, heads-up display, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and 4-way adjustable steering.

Coming to touch and feel, the Vitara definitely stands one step ahead. It looks and feels much more premium on the inside. There are plenty of soft touches all around the cabin, as opposed to the Creta.

  • Variety

The Creta gives you the option of a diesel engine, which helps it take away a certain set of customers in an instant. However, the Vitara also offers a lot of options. Firstly, you can choose between a NA Petrol engine with a mild hybrid or a strong hybrid system. The Mild hybris engine gets the options of a manual and an automatic, but that’s not the best part. The most exciting thing about the Grand Vitara is that it offers an all-wheel drive system. Yes, Maruti has carefully gauged the demand and given the people what they want. It is the only car in the segment that offers AWD! In this part of the Grand Vitara VS Creta comparison, the Vitara wins just because it offers AWD!

  • Grand Vitara VS Creta – Safety!

One of the hottest topics in the industry right now is safety. The Creta was recently tested by the GNCAP and it received a 3-star safety rating. The Grand Vitara hasn’t been tested yet, but it sits on the same platform that houses the Brezza and S-Cross, both cars that scored 4-stars in the same test. Moreover, Maruti claims that they have made significant improvements to ensure a good safety rating this time around. On paper, both these SUVs get similar safety features including ABS, EBD, TC, and 6 airbags.

  • Pricing

The Creta is priced between Rs. 10.44 – Rs. 18.15 Lakhs (petrol variants). The Grand Vitara on the other hand starts at Rs. 10.45 lakhs and goes all the way up to Rs. 19.49 Lakhs. Yes, the Vitara is over Rs. 1 Lakh expensive, but the strong hybrid system will surely help you save that money in fuel.

The Grand Vitara is a very serious competitor to the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, and the VW Taigun. Out of all these, Maruti is known for being the most reliable, service-friendly, trusted, and customer-centric brand. The Koreans and the Germans surely have some very difficult competition coming their way!
