Chinese car manufacturer Great Wall Motors (GWM) has trademarked the “Aure” name in India which hints at an upcoming SUV specifically for the Indian market. A trademark journal dated 26th July 2021 shared by ICN, reveals that the Chinese company is planning to unveil a car in India. The “Aure” is most likely to be launched under the existing Haval nameplate
Earlier in February 2020 at the 2020 AutoExpo, Great Wall Motors first revealed their line-up of cars and it was sure a great attraction. The car company went on to sign an MoU (Memorandum Of Understanding) with the Maharashtra Government to acquire and set up a manufacturing facility (Old Chevrolet Facility) in Talegaon.
However, things did not go as planned with the rising border tensions between India and China, the Maharashtra government decided to put the project and investments on hold.
As of now, GWM managed to get FDI approvals from the Government of India and is planning to bring its product via CBU (Completely Built-Up) and CKD (Completely Knocked Down) route.
Great Wall Motors has also set up a research centre in Bengaluru, Karnataka focussing on Autonomous Driving systems, Hybrid Control units, Vehicle Control units and Battery Management systems.
The company has also expressed its desire to launch the ORA R1; which was showcased at the 2020 AutoExpo as the cheapest EV in the world
