With the new BS6 emission norms in place, Honda has decided to discontinue every single of its diesel models from the Indian market, except Amaze.
The Honda India webpage no longer shows the diesel options in any other car expected the already launched Honda Amaze which was released at the start of 2020.
The company has also discontinued cars like the BR-V and Honda Accord. Honda BR-V was a Hyundai Creta rival but it failed to even challenge it a bit and thus was not upgraded to the BS6 version. The BR-V sold a mere 300 units per month since September 2019 which went down to 60 units in the month of January 2020. It would have been a resource sink and instead of wasting it on BR-V Honda can use it on something else.
Currently, cars like CR-V Honda City and Honda Civic are only shown with petrol variants on the website. However, Honda has already shown that they are more than willing to convert diesel engines to BS6. This could mean the other cars in Honda’s lineup will be getting diesel engine in the upcoming months. Amaze is the first car to get its diesel engine upgraded to BS6.
