The Honda ZR-V | What You Need To Know About the CR-V Successor

We at Gomechanic had earlier reported that Japanese carmaker Honda was rigorously working on a new Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos rival. And now new reports have surfaced the internet that Honda has recently registered a new model name rumoured to be ZR-V. it is also being said that the new Honda ZR-V compact SUV will take over the current CR-V.

As of now, The all-new Honda ZR-V will first break its cover in the Asian Markets closely followed by the European markets according to the WIPO trademark application. However, the designated name has not been registered in India. So without any further adieu let’s have a look at what the new CR-V successor will have instore for us.

What’s under the hood?

We can expect the Honda ZR-V to boast a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol unit capable of producing 122 hp with 173 Nm of peak torque while paired to a standard 6-speed manual and an optional 7-speed DCT.

It is also highly likely for the new CR-V successor to feature a limited edition 1.5-litre petrol engine churning 121 bhp and 155 Nm of maximum torque mated to a 6-speed manual and an additional 6-speed AMT which might be an optional variant.

A Brand New platform

The new Honda ZR-V compact SUV is also expected to suit on a brand new platform which also underpins the upcoming HR-V crosshatch. This designated platform will be bigger its previous generation leaving enough space for the Japanese automobile manufacturer to fit in a new SUV measuring around 4.2-meters in length.

This new mid-sized SUV will be Honda’s first product which will launch on a global scale but will first go on sale in Japan by early 2021 following its global launch. When launched in India the Honda HR-V will actively rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Nissan Kicks, Mahindra XUV300 and the Renault Duster.

Rumour also has it that this time Honda will also be targeting growing nations including Russia and Brazil.
