How Did The Tata Nexon Beat The Hyundai Creta? | Game of Thrones

The Tata Nexon has recently achieved a new milestone. It became the best-selling SUV in India for the 2022 fiscal year. And in doing so, the Tata Nexon defeated the Hyundai Creta, outselling the latter by 6,038 units. But with Hyundai Creta holding the number 1 spot for a long, what led to the sudden success of the Nexon? Let’s find out.

  1. The Launch of the Nexon EV

While the Nexon was always a wonderful offering, it still never managed to beat the Hyundai Creta for the top spot. However, Nexon’s fate changed when the company introduced the Nexon EV back in 2020. The vehicle was offered with a 30.2 kWh lithium-ion battery pack and an ARAI-certified range of 312 kilometers. On top of that, what worked in favor of the Nexon EV were the different state subsidies that substantially propelled the growth of the SUV.

  2. The Nexon EV Supremacy and its Aftermath

    The Game Changer

Ever since the Nexon EV was launched, the sales of the SUV skyrocketed. And this fact was duly noted by Tata Motors which continued to develop Nexon’s EV platform, with news of the Nexon EV Max arriving as early as January 2022. Much recently, the company did indeed launch the Nexon EV MAX, with a bigger 40 KWh battery pack translating to more power than the existing Nexon EV and with a higher range of 400 km. This news has already worked in favor of Nexon and will contribute to making Nexon retain its title.

  3. Diversity of Variants and Colors

The Nexon has always been Tata’s star SUV. This is why the company has always treated the vehicle with special attention, showering it with loads of variants to choose from along with special edition colors, customized package add-ons, and a lot of exciting feature updates as well. All this has silently worked in favor of the Nexon when compared to the Hyundai Creta.

Believe it or not, the Indian consumer habit has surely changed for good. Consumers now prefer vehicles that offer top-notch safety onboard for loved ones. This is something that drives the Nexon sentiment as the SUV is one of the very few vehicles that offer 5 Star GNCAP safety rating along with a plethora of safety features onboard.

  5. Better Pricing

Last but not the least, what drives the Nexon past the Creta is the simple fact that the SUV is better priced than the Hyundai Creta. With the Nexon ICE’s price ranging between Rs. 7.55 – 13.90 Lakhs, the Creta, on the other hand, is dearer with prices falling between Rs. 10.44 – 18.18 Lakhs. This along with the fact that the Creta simply doesn’t offer an electric version is a recipe for the Nexon’s success.

So this was why the Nexon was able to beat the Hyundai Creta. Stay pinned to the GoMechanic blog for everything automotive.
