Hyundai and Kia develop ICT connected system! A step into the future?

Hyundai and Kia Motors have come up with a system which is first of its kind in the world! This is an intelligent Information and Communication Technology (ICT) that is capable of automatically shifting the gears realising the traffic conditions ahead. Basically this one is a connected shift system that will shift your car’s gears according to the traffic conditions which it will sense by itself. This is a really futuristic technology that Hyundai has come up with.

The ICT technology developed by Hyundai and Kia uses intelligent software in the Transmission Control Unit (TCU) that collects and interprets real-time data from the surroundings. A 3D navigation system equipped with a precise map of the road as well as cameras and radar for smart cruise control is the main components that form up the ICT. The 3D navigation system also includes elevation, gradient, curvature and a variety of road events as well as current traffic conditions. The radar used in this system detects the speed of the vehicles and of course, the camera provides a view of the vehicles in the front to the sensors.

Using the above-mentioned technology, the ICT developed by Hyundai and Kia senses the traffic and predicts the optimal shifts according to the real-time driving situations. The system works on intelligent algorithms which makes the gearshifts according to the situation.

The ICT developed by Hyundai and Kia is a great system as it will help the drivers in many ways. First of all, it will help prevent sudden braking as it will sense the traffic well in advance and will allow the car to come to a halt slowly and steadily. Also, the system was tested by the automakers on a road having a lot of curves. The results show that the frequency of shifts in cornering was reduced by approximately 43 per cent and the frequency of brake operation was also reduced by approximately 11 per cent. This is a great figure which will help make our roads safer in the future!
