Hyundai’s mid-sized and most awaited SUV is finally here. Seems like the company has done their homework before stepping into the Indian market. This time the car is offered with more features than the previous feature-packed Creta. Let’s have a peep under the hood of the new Hyundai Creta.

Powertrain and Transmission

The old Hyundai Creta was known for a not so good driving experience. Guess the Hyundai did their part. We get a bunch of engine options this time around.

1.5litre Naturally Aspirated Petrol Engine
  • The naturally aspirated engine is available in all the trims, from the base all the way up to the top variant.
  • The engine produces a healthy 115ps of power and 144Nm of torque. Both of which are spread across the rpm range.
  • Alongside the engine, Hyundai Creta gets an old school yet exciting 6-speed stick shift manual transmission. There is also an option of IVT automatic transmission.

1.5litre Turbo Diesel Engine
  • Like the Naturally aspirated petrol, this engine is also available in the entire trip range from base to range-topping SX and SX(O).
  • The engine churns 115ps of power and 250Nm of torque.
  • With that, the engine is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission and a 6-speed automatic transmission.

1.4Litre Turbo Petrol Engine
  • This exciting engine is only available in the top two trims namely the SX and SX(O).
  • Though the engine is a bit small it produces a whopping 140ps of power and 242Nm of a whole bucket load of torque.
  • Behind a petrol engine, the turbo lag is almost negligible.
  • The only engine option available is an exciting and enthusiastic 7-Speed DCT transmission.

  • Exciting turbo petrol engines are only available in the top two trims, so it is feature-loaded.
  • These include 3 driving modes which also alter the digital instrument cluster of the vehicle. The modes include ECO, Comfort, and Sports.
  • Along with those Hyundai Creta also gets different traction modes. Namely Snow, mud, and sand modes.
  • The range-topping SX(O) also gets a panoramic sunroof, 17″ beautifully crafted alloy wheels.
  • In addition, it gets paddle shifters, cabin air purifiers, first in segment electronic hand break with hill hold, 10.25″ touchscreen for the infotainment system.
  • The Hyundai’s connected car tech the BlueLink system is also available in the top variants.
  • Turbo variants of the car also get chrome exhaust tips.

Pricing and Rivals 

The 2020 Hyundai Creta is said to rival its own sibling Kia Seltos. It’ll rival the likes of MG Hector some variants of Jeep Compas and Tata Harrier. The price starts from ₹9.99Lakhs and goes all the way to the top ₹17.20Lakhs (both Ex-Showroom)
