It was highly proposed. the test mule was a CNG variant with the brand’s 1.4L Turbo petrol engine. However, according to certain media reports, the test mule was sporting a brand new 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine which might get introduced with the Hyundai Creta facelift.

  • With the introduction of this new engine, it was expected that the old-school 1.4-litre turbo petrol engine would be discontinued.
  • The tested mule also had a ‘Tested by ARAI tag’, indicating that it could have also been the new engine being emission tested alongside the CNG kit.

  • With its debut with the Creta facelift, we can also expect to see the same mill with the Kia Seltos, Carens and the soon-to-launch Sorento.
  • The reason for this discontinuation is the upcoming stringent RDE norms under the Phase II BS6 norms.
  • The 1.5-Litre turbo petrol engine produces 160PS power with a peak torque of 260 Nm.
  • this engine comes mated to a standard 6-speed manual and an optional DCT transmission.
