Hyundai i20 N-Line UNLEASHED! Bookings Open

And here it is! Korean carmaker Hyundai has finally taken the cover off of the muscular version of the brand’s most iconic hatchback, The Hyundai i20 N-Line in India.

So, What is N-Line? The N-Line is the performance line-up from Hyundai which includes a tuned engine and sportier cosmetic updates on the inside as well as on the outside.

Alongside its official reveal, Hyundai has also officially started taking bookings of the Indian-spec I20 N-line for a set amount of Rs. 25,000. However, the official prices and the launch has been scheduled for September 2021.

Any changes on the mechanical front?

  • The Indian-spec N-Line will be offered with a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder turbo-petrol mill.
  • The engine will be slightly tuned and will produce 120hp of power with a peak torque of  172Nm.
  • Transmission options will include a 6-speed iMT gearbox or the 7-speed DCT gearbox. However, being an N-Line it should have come with a proper manual gearbox.
  •  Other mechanical updates include a sportier exhaust note, a slightly tweaked suspension and 4-disc brakes.

  • Starting with the inside, it looks pretty identical to the standard version. Although it does get an all-black interior.

  • We also get to see a very sporty red ambient lighting, new leatherette seats, new metal pedals, N-branded gear knob, and a revised steering wheel.

  • Feature wise, it takes cues from the standard model and includes 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a digital instrument cluster, wireless phone charging, cruise control, automatic climate control, a single-pane sunroof ,7-speaker Bose sound system and many more.
  • Although it does get a new voice recognition feature, an updated Bluelink app with 16 OTA updates.

Prices and Rivals?

  • Currently, the top end Asto (O) turbo petrol DCT comes in at Rs 11.40 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). With its launch we can expect a premium of Rs. 1-1.5 lakh or even more depending upon the situation.
  • With its launch it will rival the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Swift Sports, only if Maruti decides to launch it.
