Hyundai & Kia To VRevolutionise Vehicle Development

The South Korean automobile giants, Hyundai and Kia have revealed a new Virtual Reality (VR) design evaluation system at the Global design headquarters of the brand. The new system has been introduced at the Namyang R&D centre in South Korea.

• The VR design evaluation system is aimed to reduce the development costs and time for Hyundai as well as Kia. the automakers are planning to introduce the VR technology into the production process also.
• Hyundai and Kia displayed how the new VR design evaluation system will be used in the near future. The VR technology will allow designers all around the world to collectively design cars without actually being there.

• The evaluation system of vehicle design will consist of the virtual realm. This means that virtually enabled time and space will be available so that the interior and exterior design of vehicles can be verified for suiting the environment.
• The vehicle can be verified for optimum mobility design structure using Hyundai and Kia’s VR system. Each and every element can be inspected thus making the process of design evaluation more precise.
• The system will also be used to verify the major moving parts of the car in order to ensure safety during the rough road driving using the virtually available terrains.
• The simulation of aerodynamics will ensure that the designers are able to optimise the vehicle for better fuel efficiency. Hyundai and Kia’s VR system will also allow designers to see the airflow inside the airgaps throughout the vehicle.
• The in-vehicle spacial perception and driver convenience can also be checked using the VR system.
