Hyundai Tucson vs. Jeep Compass

Hyundai has finally taken the cover off the all-new 2022 Hyundai Tucson, triggering loads of excitement for the vehicle’s official launch on the 4^th of August 2022. But thanks to the official unveiling, the initial details about Hyundai’s modern-day SUV are known, helping us put it face to face with popular SUVs like the Jeep Compass. So here’s how Tucson does head-on with the Compass.

As is clear, the Hyundai Tucson will be taller, wider, and lengthier than the Compass with also a larger wheelbase translating to a bigger and more spacious cabin. In fact, the wheelbase of Tucson will be the longest in the segment. This means that Tucson will have an edge over not only the Compass but also the other competitors in terms of cabin space and comfort.

Hyundai Tucson vs. Jeep Compass: Powertrain

In terms of powertrain, both the Tucson and the Compass compete head-on. In terms of the petrol engine, the Tucson brings in a bigger 2.0-liter unit, which sadly is a naturally aspirated unit, as compared to the smaller but turbocharged 1.4-liter unit offered on the Compass. The result is as expected with the Compass offering better power and torque thanks to the turbo onboard. Moreover, the Compass also brings in a 6-speed manual transmission on board, which is missing on the Tucson. In terms of automatic, the Compass offers a 7-speed DCT, while the Tucson offers a 6-speed AT unit.  So when it comes to petrol, Tucson seems like a good choice.

In diesel, however, both vehicles offer 2.0-liter diesel engines. The Tucson however, offers better power and exponentially more torque. In terms of transmission, the Tucson offers only an 8-speed AT onboard, the Compass on the other hand offers a 6-speed Manual as well as AT. So for diesel lovers, Tucson seems a better choice. Being the latest launch, the Hyundai Tucson is one of the most feature-rich offerings in its segment, and rightly so. As compared to the Compass, Tucson brings a lot to the table. A few highlights include LED lighting, ventilated as well as heated electric seats with memory function, a 10.25-inch fully loaded touch infotainment, and a 10.25-inch digital MID along with a premium sound set up with BOSE surround system (8 Speakers), Dual zone climate control, Blue Link connected car tech, 64 colors ambient lighting, 360-degree camera with blind view monitor, panoramic sunroof and much more.

The Jeep too, is loaded quite well and offers a 10.1-inch fully loaded touch infotainment, five custom profiles with OTA updates, wireless charging, 360-degree remote camera, Alpine sound system, 10.25-inch digital cluster, connected car technology, auto-dimming IRVM, auto headlights, rain-sensing wipers, cruise control, powered liftgate, and powered front seats with ventilation and memory settings and much more.

The biggest advantage of Tucson is the ADAS features. Being the first Hyundai car to offer Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), the Tucson offers front collision avoidance assist, driver attention warning, lane keeping assist, blind spot collision avoidance assist, high beam assist, safe exit warning, smart cruise control, lane follow assist, rear cross-traffic collision avoidance assist giving it an edge over the Compass. Nonetheless, the competition is bang on.
