Hyundai’s Promising 2022 Lineup That India Wants

Hyundai is the second most selling brand in India, be it entry-level hatchbacks such as Grand i10 Nios or premium SUVs such as Tucson, which have a vast lineup. Their cars are feature-loaded with multiple engine options. Let’s look at Hyundai’s promising 2022 lineup that we want in India:

  1. Tucson 2022

    Hyundai launched Tucson in 2004, and this update will be the fourth generation. Tucson is a premium 5-seater SUV and one of the best options in its price range. It is expected to debut in the second week of July and launch by September. We do not have the exact details yet, but this car comes with 9 engines across the global market, including naturally aspirated petrol & diesel engines, turbo petrol and even hybrid & plug-in hybrid systems.

    The transmission’s technical specifications also have not been revealed, but it is expected to be an automatic with paddle shifters and AWD as standard. Hyundai will update Tucson with features such as a panoramic sunroof, connected car tech & ADAS features.

  2. Nexo

    The Kona Electric is the only EV in India from Hyundai, and it competes with other cars such as the MG ZS EV. Nexo is being considered to launch in India; it is a fuel cell EV powered by a 120kW motor churning out 163hp & 395Nm torque.

    The motor draws power from the battery & fuel cells with an overall capacity of 135kW. It has a range of 600 kilometres as certified by WLTP in a Europe test cycle. The specifications and range might change for the India-spec version. If launched in India, it might be the first fuel cell EV.

  3. Palisade

    As SUVs have taken over the market, Hyundai might launch its latest flagship SUV in India. Palisade is a premium SUV which can accommodate up to 8 people and is equipped with features such as a dual-pane sunroof, 12-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, heads-up display, surround view, and connected car tech & ADAS features.

    The global-spec Palisade is powered by a 3.8-litre Atkinson-cycle V6 petrol engine that makes 291hp & 355Nm torque. This engine is paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission functioning with a multi-plate torque converter. It is available with both FWD & AWD.

  4. Venue N-Line

    While Hyundai has launched the facelifted Venue into the market, some buyers are still waiting for the sportier performance version of the compact SUV, Venue N-Line. Till now, Hyundai has only launched the i20 N-Line in India from its performance lineup.

    It might share the same features as the facelifted Venue and maybe the same powertrain as the i20 N-Line. It might be available in two variants, N6 & N8, with a starting price of around ₹12 lakhs.

  5. IONIQ 5

    This is a futuristic EV which is expected to make it to the Indian market by late 2022. IONIQ 5 will be the second EV from Hyundai after the already running Kona EV. The global-spec version of the EV gets 3 powertrain options, a RWD with 170hp /217hp or an AWD with a 305hp motor. There is a 58kWh  and a larger 72.6 kWh battery pack on offer with a range of  384 & 481 kilometres, respectively.

    IONIQ comes with two chargers; a 50kWh DC charger that takes 43.5 minutes to charge the smaller battery pack and 56.6 minutes to charge the larger one. In contrast, the 350kWh DC charger can charge the EV from 0-80% in under 18 minutes. This EV will compete with others, such as its cousin Kia EV6 & Volvo XC40 recharge.
