The Jeep Renegade has been one of India’s most anticipated launch in India. This will be Jeep’s 4th product for the Indian market after the Jeep Compass, Wrangler and the Rubicon which since their launch have been doing extremely well. The all-new Jeep Renegade will be launched in the compact SUV segment and will be placed below the Compass SUV and will compete against its arch-rival and one of the segment topper the Hyundai Creta.
Now coming back to the what the topic states a test mule of the Renegade compact SUV was spotted testing on Indian roads by an automobile enthusiast near Udipi (Karnataka). However, the only strange things we could notice that despite being a heavily camouflaged test mule that it supported an ‘MH’ number plate. another thing we couldn’t help but notice was its boxy silhouette and the brands signature seven-slat grille with circular headlamps
Jeep Renegade | Engine Specification
We can expect the all-new Renegade to use Fiat’s frugal 1.6-litre multi jet diesel engine compliant to the BS6 emission norms.
The compact SUV could also use a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine straight from Fiat’s FireFly line-up. The 1.0-litre turbo petrol produces 118 bhp of power and 190 Nm of peak torque, available in both automatic and manual transmission.
Jeep Renegade | Features
As seen in the above spy shot the renegade compact SUV will support elements like the squared wheel arches, 17-inch alloy wheels and a straight beltline similar to that of the Euro-spec model and even on the India-specific Jeep Compass. Additionally, the new Maruti Brezza rival will also feature square LED taillights at the rear end.
Jeep Renegade | Launch & Rivals
Rumours suggest that Jeep might not bring the Renegade compact SUV to India but they could launch a similar-looking model under the same segment. So this basically means that the test might just be Jeep testing the car under various aspects.
If and when launched the Renegade or its substitute will rival the lies of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and the MG Hector.
