Jeep plans to launch a 7-seater SUV in India really soon. This will take on the currently existing Toyota Fortuner and the Ford Endeavour. The SUV will first be launched globally and will soon make its way to the Indian market.
As of now, Jeep plans to launch 2 SUVs in India next year. One will be a mid-sized variant competing with the Hyundai Creta and the Nissan Kicks. FCA was caught testing the 7-seater Jeep SUV which hinted toward the return of the Wagoneer range which could be offered as a standard. Moreover, an upscaled version of the Wagoneer can be expected which will directly rival the Range Rover Series.
Currently, Jeep is testing this 7-seater SUV and reports suggest that it could be the 7-seater compass but the boxy design underneath the dark camouflage suggests otherwise. India bound 7-seater Jeep SUV could have somethings in common with the Compass though! The Suv is currently codenamed as Low-D.

The spy shots taken in Brazil suggest that the vehicle will be having a longer wheelbase than the compass. Also, a whole new steering and suspension system with a modified platform will be used in manufacturing the SUV. The existing Compass’ length of 4.41 metres and the wheelbase of 2.63 metres will be stretched to accommodate the third row.
As fas as the India launch is considered, both the 2.0litre diesel and 1.4litre turbo petrol engine will be updated accordingly to comply with the new emission norms. All of us know that BS6 is going to be mandated from the next year. Jeep is also working towards modifying their technology to be BS6 compliant. Jeep plans to launch the Compass facelift next year in India and the launch of the Low-D will follow. We can expect this car to arrive in India by late 2020 or early 2021.0
