KIA has officially launched their latest MPV, the Carens in India! The Carens will be a mid-range MPV that aims to bridge the gap between the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and the Toyota Innova. This is KIA’s 4th vehicle in India after the Seltos, Sonet and the Carnival. Read ahead to know more about the KIA Carens, its competition and its pricing!

Competition
The KIA Carens sits right alongside the Mahindra Marazzo, Maruti Ertiga, and the fully-loaded variants are priced along with the lower variants of the Hyundai Alcazar. The pricing on the Carens is very aggressive, thus it will be covering a wide range in between its variants.

KIA Carens Variants
The Carens comes in five different variants- Premium, Prestige, Prestige+, Luxury and Luxury+. The top 2 variants also come with an option of either a 6-Seat or a 7-Seat configuration. The lower variants get all the basic features, while the higher trims get additional features like the sunroof, ventilated seats, rear camera and leather seats. The good news is that all of the variants of the Carens get 6 airbags as standard.

Engine Options
The Carens comes with 3 engine options. They are- a 1.5L NA Petrol, a 1.4L Turbo Petrol and a 1.5L Diesel. The 1.5L Petrol gets only a manual gearbox, the 1.4L Turbo petrol gets a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DCT, and the 1.5L Diesel gets a 6-speed manual/automatic gearbox. These engines are also found on the KIA Seltos and the Hyundai Creta.

Pricing of the KIA Carens
KIA has kept the pricing on this one extremely competitive. The Carens start at Rs.8.99 Lakhs and it tops out at Rs. 16.99 Lakhs for the fully loaded Luxury+ variant. This pricing is introductory, so we can expect a slight change in these numbers after some time.
